摘要:
An optical density thermometer is described for determining the temperature of centrifuge rotors. Quantitation is based on the change in the concentration of the vapor phase of a volatile substance, such as bromine, with temperature. Centrifugal force holds the liquid phase away from the light path and removes condensation from the optical windows.

摘要:
A fluorescence quenching method for the determination of fluoride ion over the concentration range from 10−9to 10−6M is presented. The fluoride ion is added to the fluorescent chelate of aluminum(III) and PAN [1- (2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol]: the fluoride preferentially complexes the aluminum (III), displacing nonfluorescent PAN. Of the anions tested as possible interferences at equimolar levels, phosphate interferred seriously and iodide interferred somewhat.

摘要:
A procedure for simultaneous determination of microgram amounts of platinum and palladium in solutions of base metals is described. The two metals are isolated on an anion exchange resin-loaded paper disk and determined by X-ray spectrometry. The method is applied to the determination of platinum and palladium in nickel matte.

Use of the new, solid-membrane cupric electrode for non-aqueous titrations, a significant advancement over the earlier liquid-membrane electrode, is illustrated. The solid-membrane cupric electrode was used for the complexometric titration of cupric ion with several ligands in methanol, acetone and acetonitrile.

摘要:
A method capable of determining therapeutic blood levels of pseudoephedrine in man is described. The procedure involves partial purification by extraction, formation of the heptafluorobutyryl derivative, and electron capture detection of the prepared derivatives. Serum levels of pseudoephedrine in man are presented. Chemical reactivity, stability and gas chromatographic properties of the ephedrine derivatives are discussed.
