The effectiveness of a computer‐assisted learning programme in engineering mathematics |

摘要:
Two groups of students were taught the same engineering mathematics material in different ways. One group was taught using solely ‘traditional’ lectures and tutorials. The other group had some lectures and tutorials but also spent some time using computer‐assisted learning material. The results achieved by these two groups are analysed in an attempt to determine if there was any benefit in following the computer‐assisted learning programme. The views of the students who used computers were surveyed by questionnaire and these findings are also reported.

摘要:
Closed analytic expressions are presented for a specific class of integrals arising in pion (or kaon) scattering from nuclei. These provide a computationally convenient description of such scattering whenever modified plane wave approximations for the continuum wave functions are valid. Similar results are derived for two other classes of related integrals. Finite series representations for various special functions are also presented.

摘要:
In this paper hypermedia and animation in computer‐aided control system design (CACSD) education is discussed. Hypermedia is seen as a conceptual framework for the TDP simulation software. Hypermedia and animation can provide new methods for ‘seeing’ how control systems behave. This can increase the researcher's or student's intuition of control methods such asH8‐theory, observer theory, state feedback, etc. As an example experiences from the TDP simulator for distributed parameter systems are presented. Individual tools for modelling, designing and simulating distributed parameter systems in TDP simulator are discussed. Special attention is paid to interfaces between these tools. Four simulation examples are presented and discussed.
