摘要:
When Pythagoras investigated frequencies of vibrating strings under tension, he found that by dividing the string in half it sounds an octave higher, by dividing it into three he obtained a note called a perfect fifth with its frequency three times that of the original string. By taking J of the string he found it vibrated at a frequency of the perfect fourth with frequency ratio to the fundamental of 4:3.

摘要:
Following the example designed to encourage an interest in mathematical proof detailed in Part 1, the present part has the aim of easing the learning of the subject. This is done by examples chosen to emphasize the unity of mathematics. Three principles, chosen for their triviality, are mentioned, and each of them is shown to be the basis of non‐trivial proofs of results from quite distinct areas of mathematics.

摘要:
An interactive teaching program has been developed for undergraduate use. The program, which calculates the factors of safety for different soil profiles, is capable of accepting coordinates either in polynomial or discrete form. Upon input of other factors such as the strength and the weight parameters the program provides the appropriate factor of safety with an optional plot of the failure surfaces.

摘要:
This article argues that there are measurable physiological and observable psychological factors which contribute to mathematics anxiety. The author contends that these factors can be contrasted with the psychophysiological correlates related to mathematics creativity. Next, the author describes some of the psychopathologies associated with mathematics anxiety and finally offers suggestions for ways teachers can improve the inner environments (minds and bodies) of their students as well as the outer environments (mathematics classrooms and school systems) to reduce mathematics anxiety and enhance mathematics creativity.
