摘要:
This study attempted to determine the effect of an instruction based on validated learning hierarchy in mathematics on student learning outcomes. The study involved the use of validated learning hierarchy to teach sampled subjects topics in mathematics. Two streams each, selected from two schools by using their score on a pre‐test and an aptitude test as criteria, were assigned randomly to two instructional strategies—the learning hierarchy strategy (experimental) and conventional strategy (control).

摘要:
Hamilton's quaternions are introduced in the usual abstract algebra course as simply an example of a division algebra that is not a field. This paper is designed to supplement this deficiency by showing how the quaternions are used in navigation to indicate the position of an aircraft or a surface craft on the earth. The treatment here has examples throughout to illustrate the development of the Quaternions from a vector space, of which the real numbers and the complex numbers are subsets, to the navigation quaternions, which are used in navigation.

摘要:
Today, we find much discussion and experimentation devoted to trying to improve the quality of secondary school mathematics teachers around the world. This article describes a typical pattern followed in Greece in the preparation of mathematics teachers, and suggests reasons for the inadequacy of this pattern, as well as proposing a solution to the problem. The author is convinced that much can be learned from the attempts of others working in education in several countries, in the hope that an exchange of ideas will lead to improved programs and practices. In this light, the problems of Greek experience in the training of secondary mathematics teachers are discussed in accordance with international standards, and serious shortcomings are pointed out. In conclusion, a possible remedy involving the design of a program based on the real needs of a secondary teacher is suggested.
