摘要:
The class of functions for which certain singular integral equations hold good is discussed and the method of obtaining appropriate solutions of such equations is explained through equations of simple form. A discussion of this type is felt to be essential for beginners.

摘要:
We describe a TQM‐based system of instruction that the author has used in a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses. The courses range from ‘mathematics appreciation’ for non‐technical students, through introductory calculus, to upper‐division applied linear algebra. The author has implemented techniques from TQM #optotal quality management#cp that have proven successful in obtaining high quality products in business and industry.

摘要:
Science and mathematics educators are occasionally #opand we hope rarely#cp faced with the problem that a set of exam marks is felt, in hindsight, not accurately to reflect the ability and achievement of the students. This is most likely to occur with teachers who are inexperienced and not closely supervised, and should certainly result in changes to the course or to the style of assessment in the following year.

摘要:
The general solution for a linear, second-order partial differential equation (generalized D'Alembert wave equation) with two independent variables, depending on a parameter, is given in terms of two arbitrary functions for a convenient choice of the parameter. By a convenient limit process we can obtain the classical D'Alembert solution for the homogeneous wave equation.
