AbstractBei austenitischen Chrom‐Nickel‐Stählen kann transkristalline Spannungsrißkorrosion bei 25°C auftreten, wenn sowohl die Wasserstoffionen‐ als auch die Chloridionen‐Konzentration etwa 1 mol/L überschreiten oder wenn stark konzentrierte Chloridlösungen vorliegen. Die Parameter dieser Korrosion wurden mit CERT‐Versuchen und mit Bügelproben untersucht. Im Gegensatz zu den sauren Lösungen ist die Reproduzierbarkeit bei den konzentrierten Lösungen gering, wobei im wesentlichen die Bildung von Verformungsmartensit die Korrosionsanfälligkeit bestimmt, die mit ansteigendem Nickelgehalt abnimmt.Die Spannungsrißkorrosion findet in begrenzten Potentialbereichen statt und ist im Gegensatz zu der Spannungsrißkorrosion in warmer Medien zu positiveren Potentialen hin begrenzt. Die Potentialbereiche können mit zunehmender Kaltverformung ausgeweitet werden, wobei eine grobe Schleifbehandlung und zyklische Belastungen im plastischen Bereich die Rißbildung begünstigen.Rißbildung wurde in Lösungen mit MgCl2, LiCl und im geringen Ausmaß auch mit NaCl, nicht aber mit ZnCl2beobachtet, wobei die Konzentration der Chlorid‐Ionen nur innerhalb einer Salzart, nicht aber bei den verschiedenen Lösungen

AbstractLaboratory weight loss and cyclic potentiodynamic polarization corrosion tests were performed on two types of corrosion resistant alloys, a duplex alloy (ferritic‐austenitic stainless steel) and two austenitic stainless steels, in mixtures of chloride (3000, 9000 and 15000 ppm) and fluoride (4800 and 15000 ppm) ions at pH 3. Two temperatures were tested, 60 and 70°C. The electrochemical results indicate that the duplex stainless steel presents high corrosion resistance. AbstractThe corrosion resistance of an Fe‐40%Cr superferritic alloy containing various major and minor alloying additions, e. g. nickel, molybdenum, aluminium, zirconium, nitrogen, niobium, titanium and ruthenium, as well as various combinations of them, was investigated in dilute sulphuric acid. Although small nickel and molybdenum additions alone cannot cause spontaneous passivation of the Fe‐40%Cr alloy to which they are added, a combination of these two alloying elements result in an Fc‐40%‐Cr superferritic stainless steel which can passivated spontaneously in dilute sulphuric acid. Further additions of minor alloying elements like Ti, Nb, Ru and N have an influence on the time required to achieve spontaneous passivation and the final open‐circuit potential eventually reached. Further additions of Al and Zr to the Fe‐40%Cr‐2%Ni‐2%Mo alloy did not have much of an effect on the final open‐circuit potential reached, and only affected the time required before this potential was rea

AbstractThe corrosion behaviour of nickel‐aluminium alloys with aluminium contents of 2‐50%, in molten carbonate has been investigated with electrochemical techniques in combination with post‐test analysis of quenched specimens.For the 2 to 10% aluminium alloys a type of aluminium oxide is formed along the grain boundaries of the base metal at potentials of ‐1100 and ‐900 mV. At potentials of ‐700 nmV and more anodic an outer oxide scale is formed and also aluminium oxide formation takes place along the grain boundaries. The oxide scale contained nickel, aluminium and oxygen. The only corrosion product that could he detected by X‐ray diffraction on specimens quenched after polarisation at ‐700 mV or more anodic is NiO; no type of aluminium oxide could be detected, probably due to the small amount of aluminium oxide formed.For the 20% aluminium alloy a type of aluminium oxide is formed along the grain boundaries at ‐1100 and ‐900 mV. After longer polarisation times also the aluminium in the interior of the grains is oxidised, which results in a two‐layer microstructure: an outer layer of pure nickel, and an inner layer that is a honeycomb network of nickel filled with aluminium, oxygen and nickel, while high amounts of aluminium and oxygen could be detected along the grain boundaries. The amount of corrosion product was too small to be detected by X‐ray diffraction. At potentials of ‐700 mV and more anodic, an oxide scale of irregular thickness is formed, but no oxide could be observed along the grain boundaries. The only corrosion product detected by X‐ray diffraction on specimens quenched after polarisation at potentials in this range is nickel oxide.On the 50% aluminium alloy a continuous oxide layer is formed at all potentials. The only corrosion product formed at all potentials is α‐LiAlO2; the stable form of LiAlO2is γ‐LiAlO2. α‐LiAlO2is probably an intermediate product that is slowly transformed to γ‐LiAlO2. The oxide layer provides good protection against further corrosion of the base material.The quasi‐stationary polarisation curves are very similar to those of pure nickel, because no protective oxide scales are formed on the 2 to 20% aluminium

AbstractIm Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die Möglichkeiten zur Herstellung von Tantalbeschichtungen durch Vakuumplasmaspritzen untersucht. Neben den Arbeiten zur Ermittlung geeigneter Beschichtungsbedingungen erfolgte eine Qualitätsbewertung der Tantalspritzschichten u. a. hinsichtlich chemischer Zusammensetzung, Haftfestigkeit, Dichte und Korrosionsbeständigkeit. Zur Erzielung qualitativ hochwertiger Schichten ist neben einer ausreichenden Plasmaleistung eine optimale Injektion des Spritzpulvers erforderlich. Ein vollständiges Aufschmelzen der Tantalpartikel war nicht erreichbar. Die erzielten Spritzschichten wiesen bei geringer Verformbarkeit eine gute Haftfestigkeit auf. Die Korrosionsbeständigkeit in einer Säuremischung aus HCl und HNO3wurde durch Aufnahme von Stromdichte‐Potentialkurven bewertet. Anhand der Passivstromdichte wurde festgestellt, daß die Korrosionsbeständigkeit von kompaktem Tantal nicht erreicht werden konnte. Die erhöhte Oberflächenrauhigkeit spielt dabei eine untergeordnete Rolle. Als mögliche Ursache der verringerten Korrosionsbeständigkeit wird ein erhöhter Sauerstoffgehalt im Spritzpulver angesehen.Ergänzend durchgeführte Untersuchungen an Titan ergaben, daß eine Titanspritzschicht sich hinsichtlich des Korrosionsverhaltens unter den gewählten Prüfbedingungen vom kompakten Titan

AbstractKorrosionserscheinungen an Bauteilen der Mikroelektronik treten aus unterschiedlichen Gründen auf und sind in der Literatur beschrieben. Sie werden nicht nur durch die Betriebsumstände hervorgerufen, sondern werden nicht selten auch durch die Fertigung begünstigt. Untersuchungen zum Ausfall mehrerer Platten, die in der Steuerungselektronik einer Fettaufbereitungsanlage für Großküchenabwässer zum Einsatz gekommen sind, wurden durchgeführt. Bei der licht‐ und elektronenmikroskopischen Betrachtung der ausgefallenen Platine wurden verschiedene Korrosionserscheinungen gefunden, die hauptsächlich an dem eingesetzten Lötwerkstoff auftraten. Aus diesem Grund sind an der als Lötstoff eingesetzten Zinn‐Blei‐Legierung unter Laborbedingungen potentiostatische Halteversuche und Versuche hei freier Korrosion mit Medien durchgeführt warden, welche die Schadstoffe der Umgebungsluft der Anlage in erhöhten Mengen beinhalten, um damit ein Aufkonzentrieren an den Oberflächen der Platine zu simulieren. Anhand der ermittelten Stromdichte‐Werte für verschiedene Potentiale und der Korrosionserscheinungen an den Proben werden Rückschlüsse auf den vorliegenden Schadensfall gezogen. Bei den unter Laborbedingungen durchgeführten Versuchen werden ähnliche Korrosionserscheinungen beobachtet, wie sie an den Bauelementen der ausgefallenen Platinen gefunden wurden. Es wird aufgrund der vorliegenden Ergebnisse Vermutet daß Lochfraß und selektive Korrosion der Sn‐Pb‐Legierung ursächlich für den Ausfall der untersuchten Pla
