AbstractDensity‐density correlations in a homogeneous, isotropic, classical plasma are calculated with inclusion of the full electromagnetic interaction. This leads to isotropic homogeneous field limits, contrary to the electrostatic approximation, that is consequently not valid for small wavenumbers. Application of the theory of generalized functions, combined with Kramer Kronig relations makes it possible to deal with the integrals that occur in the transverse part, provided a nonrelativistic approximation has been applied. As a side result Kubo's formula, applied to the electric conductivity, and generally derived under restriction to the electrostatic approximation, reappears for the case that the full electromagnetic interaction is include

AbstractThree typical saturation mechanisms of the explosive instability (EI) in a beam‐plasma system are investigated. It is shown that the maximum values of the electric field strengths of the explosively unstable plasma waves can be of the same order as the maximum wave amplitude of the linearly unstable waves. Some conclusions with regard to the role played by the EI in the evolution of a real beam‐plasma system are presented. The relaxation of a strongly modulated electron beam by the explosive wave coupling mechanism is examined in an appendix. Using the drift kinetic equation the influence of the ballooning component of the perturbed transit ion pressure on the low‐frequency Alfvéen waves in a toroidal plasma is considered. It is shown that this contribution to the plasma pressure leads in a relatively cold plasma (plasma edge) to a stabilization of the Alfvéen modes. AbstractA high current z‐pinch can be stabilized by a thin long projectile accelerated to a few km/sec, if the projectile is shot through the core of the pinch. Furthermore, as a result of the thermomagnetic Nernst effect both the heat conduction and radiation losses at thermonuclear temperatures are sufficiently small. AbstractBy means of the short‐circuiting of electric arcs burning in turbulent axial gas coolant flow and their reaction on a (recovering) voltage ramp the reignition in circuit breakers is modelled. Strong stochasticity of thermal reignition is demonstrated even under relatively weak conditions. Channels or nozzles showing flow detachment are further deteriorated by that. AbstractThe investigation of the optical space‐time‐structure of the discharge development was made for various values ofpD(1,3 kPacm, 33,4 kPacm) by means of the variation of the electrode distance for two gas pressures. The broadening of the bistable region with growing electrode distance can be explained by the effect of the positive space charge as a virtual anode. Thus the space charge memory is dependent on the value ofpD.If the space charge breakdown takes place, a light front moves from the anode to the cathode, its velocity, varying from 3 · 104cm/s to 8 · 105cm/s. In the volume an optical structure develops which is analogous to that of a medium pressure glow discharge. If the time between successive discharge pulses is too short, then the decay of the positive space charge is incomplete and there is no Townsend phase. AbstractA model theory of the influence of particles interaction in plasma on its composition and optical properties is developed.The interaction of charged particles in plasma reduces the ionization energy of atoms and ions. The action of internal microfields in plasma on atoms and ions reduces the statistical weight of electron levels which affects the populations of excited states. The latter effect leads to an effective cutoff of partition functions and determines the behaviour of optical properties of plasma (of absorption coefficient and emissivity) at increased number densities of charged particles.The formulas are obtained for calculation of the continuous and discrete spectrum in plasma taking into account the particles interaction. A non‐monotonic dependence of optical plasma density upon number density of charged particles is quantitatively explained. A satisfactory agreement is obtained with a large number of experimental data some of which were considered to be contradictory.The method developed can be used for calculations in the field of atomic spectroscopy and low‐temperature plasma physics including increased densities of charged particles. AbstractThe paper deals with the impact of intensive electron attachment on the kinetics of the electrons in the active zone of the stationary band‐like beam discharge plasma in SF6which is an alternative useful plasma medium for “dry etching”. The energy distribution of the electrons in this plasma was obtained by numerically solving the Boltzmann equation which includes apart from elastic collisions, different exciting collision processes, attachment in electron collisions, direct ionization, the ambipolar loss of electrons, Coulomb interaction between electrons and of electrons with ions and the power input to the electrons by the turbulent electric field. In particular, due to the needed fulfilment of the consistent electron particle balance, for an extended region of the turbulence energy density in this plasma a large impact on the electron kinetics of the intensive electron attachment, which is the prevailing electron loss process, was found enforcing independent of the turbulence energy density always a large power input to the electrons, smooth and only slowly decreasing energy distributions even in the energy region of direct ioniz
