摘要:
AbstractInfluences of an axial magnetic field on the ionization wave and the positive column in rare gas discharges are studied experimentally. The upper critical currentIcfor the appearance of ionization waves in the magnetic fieldBis newly found. AsBis gradually increased, the value ofIeslightly increases from the Pupp's value and after passing a prominent maximum, finally become very small. In addition an anomaly takes place in the axial electric fieldEof the positive column stable for helical instabilities. With increasing the magnetic field the value ofEgoes through a weak maximum before decreasing. It is concluded that this anomaly, apparently incompatible with classical diffusion theory, is closely related to the appearance of ionization waves in the positive column.

摘要:
AbstractOn the basis of the electron Boltzmann equation and of the balances for the charge carriers (e, H+, H2+, H3+), the H‐atoms and the metastable H(2s)‐atoms for the H/H2‐mixture the behaviour of the weakly turbulent, band‐like electron‐beam discharge plasma in hydrogen has been calculated taking into account the main collision and transport processes. In dependence of the normalized discharge length, the life time of the neutral particles in the band‐like plasma and the electron beam generated turbulence energy density the ionization and dissociation budget and in particular the most important electron‐heavy particle collision rates, which appear in the balance equation system, are investigated in the present part of our paper. In a second part the results related to the budget of the ions and the metastable atomic state will be reported and an analysis of the main processes in the balances

AbstractThe paper deals with the dissociation of carbon dioxide in nonequilibrium plasma of a stationary plasma‐beam discharge. AbstractThe cathode spots from vacuum arcs on 316 stainless steel are compared with the tracks found on the same material after exposure to the plasma of the tokamak TFR 600. Further the erosion yields of vacuum arc cathodes of 316 stainless steel and titanium are determined from experiments and the measured values are compared with theoretical estimates. AbstractCraters caused by unipolar arcs on stainless steel depend strongly on surface conditions. There are three diameter distributions: Small craters (∼ 0.3 μm) for oxidised surfaces, larger craters (∼ 2 μm) for moderately cleaned areas, and very large craters (∼ 20 μm) for clean surfaces.
