AbstractIn a preceding paper based upon the time dependent Boltzmann equation the electron kinetics of the weakly ionized HF plasma was investigated firstly by a time‐consuming direct treatment and secondly by the Fourier expansion for the established HF state. Continuing these investigations, the decoupling of the equation determining the period average of the isotropic distribution from the other equations of the system for the harmonics of the isotropic distribution is quantitatively studied for a neon plasma as a typical representative. In this way the applicability of a simplified approach for the electron kinetics in the HF plasma could be justified and a former estimate for a field frequency above which this kinetics can be used could be confirmed. The generalization of this simpler description to arbitrary HF fields and to HF plasmas in other gases is discussed. AbstractThe problem of transport equations of a collisional plasma in a curvilinear magnetic field is studied. Two main approaches to this problem are presented: that based on using the Boltzmann kinetic equation and the drift kinetic equation approach. In the frame of the first approach a multimoment transport equation set is found which is more general than the transport equation sets of Braginskii and Grad. The tensor equations of this set are described in an arbitrary curvilinear coordinate system. This allow to use these equations in problems of a plasma confined in toroidal magnetic configurations. Simplification of the multimoment transport equation set in the case of high magnetic field is performed. In the frame of the drift kinetic equation approach, a generalization of the drift transport equations derived earlier by the authors (Zh. Eksp. Teor. Fiz. 83 (1982) 139) is given.

AbstractWe demonstrate a proof for the existence of a maximal potential for the higher nonlinear evolution equation (see part I). This maximum potential depends upon the plasma parameters and therefore upon the mechanism of instability too. The problems of the stability and of the asymptotic soliton solution are discussed. Finally we present different numerical results.

摘要:
AbstractThe energy which may be introduced into the plasma of an e‐beam sustained laser discharge depends on the electron loss processes as recombination and attachment. Measuring the time behaviour of the discharge current both the recombination and the attachment rate coefficients can be determined.The results of such investigations reported here suggest that some widely used assumptions have to be proofed carefully once more. It could be shown that in the case of pure nitrogen the recombination coefficient decreases very rapidly immediately after the discharge ignition even if the reduced electric field strength remains unchanged. In CO2‐discharges such a behaviour could not be observed. Moreover, it has been found that CO2‐discharges are stable only as long as they are recombination determined.These results are supported by additional investigations in N2—CO2‐mixtures. Some conclusions according to the operation of tunable high pressure lasers

AbstractFast electrons leaving a hollow cathode discharge axially through the orifice of a hole probe undergo ionizing collisions with the discharge gas in and behind the orifice. Ar++ions produced in this way are used as a monitor for the density of fast electrons,Nef, on the axis of the negative glow of a cylindrical hollow cathode discharge. Data onNefas dependent on the pressure of the Ar discharge gas and on the discharge current are obtained and an analytical expression for these dependences is found and discussed.
