摘要:
The lower part of the Eocene deep‐sea deposits (450–500 m) in Istria is dominated by light‐grey marl‐stones; the middle and upper parts are dominated by thin‐and medium‐bedded siliciclastic flysch deposits. These accumulated in a narrow short‐lived basin.

摘要:
Dinosaur tracks and other archosaur footprints from multiple stratigraphic levels in coastal exposures near Cardiff, and a site near Nottage, Porthcawl area, provide evidence of a diverse assemblage of trackmakers from the “marginal faciès”; of the Mercia Mudstone Group (Late Triassic), that can be closely compared with other Pangaean ichnofaunas of the same age.

Heimdalliais recorded for the first time from the Carboniferous, and the new ichnospeciesHeimdallia mullaghmoriis erected for material from the Lower Carboniferous of northwest Ireland. The latter ichnospecies is the first recorded branched representative ofHeimdallia.Examination of well‐exposed examples ofH. mullaghmoriindicates the need to emend the diagnosis ofHeimdallia, to allow for the concept of a horizontal basal tube, overlain by a vertical spreite‐like structure comprising inclined sediment packets, with the latter marking the former positions of upwardly inclined sections of distal tube.H. mullaghmoriresemblesPhycodes circinatus, as well asTeichichnus, but can nevertheless be distinguished on the basis of the discordant relationship between the inclined packets of sediment, that form the ‘spreite’, and its basal tube.H. mullaghmoriis at present only recorded from the Mullaghmore Sandstone Formation, within shallow‐water deltaic siliciclastic facies, where it occurs in parallel‐laminated and hummocky cross‐stratified sandstones; representing tempestite and storm reworked facies. The range ofHeimdallia (H. chatwiniandH. mullaghmori)can now be extended from the Lower Ordovician to Lower Carboniferous.

摘要:
The Santa Rosita Formation is one the most widely distributed lower Paleozoic units of northwest Argentina. At the Quebrada del Salto Alto section, east of Purmamarca, Jujuy Province, it is represented by four sedimentary facies: thick‐bedded planar cross‐stratified quartzose sandstones (A), thin‐bedded planar cross‐stratified quartzose sandstones and mudstones (B), wave‐rippled sandstones and bioturbated mudstones (C), and black and greenish gray shales (D). Paleocurrent data, sandstone architecture, and sedimentary structures from faciès A and B indicate bipolar/bimodal paleoflows, suggesting the action of tidal currents. The succession is interpreted as that of a tide‐dominated shelf, with only secondary influence of wave processes. Trace fossils are restricted to facies B and C.
