AbstractThe growing use of aluminum pipelines and the ever‐increasing number of products being pumped through them has necessitated a knowledge of the hydraulic characteristics of aluminum pipe in both the new and used condition from the commencement of turbulent flow to high Reynolds' numbers in excess of 106.The results of the investigation reported here show that new aluminum pipe is sensibly hydraulic‐ally “smooth” over the range mentioned and even pipe which has experienced considerable service does not differ too greatly from this “smooth” cha
