摘要:
AbstractIsothermal vapor‐liquid equilibria were measured using a still with the aid of a computer for control of the temperature and measurement of the total pressure. The measurements were made with circulation of both the vapor and liquid phases in a still of the Rogalski and Malanowski type (1980). The isobaric vapor‐liquid equilibria were measured for the benzene + 2‐propanol system at 101.3 kPa in order to test the consistency of results obtained with this still. Isothermal vapor‐liquid equilibria were measured for the 2,3‐dimethylbutane + methanol system at 313.15 K. The experimental data were correlated with the Wilson (1964)

摘要:
AbstractThe bubbles that were generated in a flotation column were measured. The bubble size distributions were obtained both for air‐water and air‐water‐coal systems. The size distribution pattern was fitted to different equations. It was found that the bubble size distribution in both the flotation and cleaning zones follows the Rosin‐Rommler equation used to describe the particle size distribution in crushing. This study indicates that bubbles in the cleaning zone are always larger than those of the flotation zone and finer bubbles are generated when a mixture of frothers is used instead of individual f

摘要:
AbstractThe polymerization of dibenzo‐18‐crown‐6 has been carried out in an electrochemical reactor containing a granular electrode percolated by a pulsed solution. The influence of different parameters (pulse frequency, permanent flow velocity of the electrolytic solution, particle diameter and bed height) on the mass transfer has been studied. A correlation between the reduced mass transfer coefficient and the Strouhal number has been established. The maximum mass transfer coefficient and the maximum Strouhal number have been determined as a function of the Galilee number. The correlation predicts well the mass transfer coefficient over a larger range of the variables than previously ach

摘要:
AbstractAs shown by Luus et al. (1992), determination of the optimum catalyst blend along a tubular reactor to maximize the yield of a particular component is a difficult problem due to the large number of local optima. By using iterative dynamic programming, the effects of the region reduction factor and the choice of the initial region size are analyzed in detail for this problem. Even if a single grid‐point for the state is used, the likelihood of obtaining the global optimum is very high if the initial region size is chosen to be sufficiently larg

摘要:
AbstractThe kinetics of the oxidation of toluene by nitric oxide over nickel oxide‐aluminium oxide catalyst has been studied in the temperature range 280‐380°C. A rate equation Rn= ktptknPnI (k1P1+ knPn) was deduced, assuming a steady state involving a two‐stage irreversible oxidation‐reduction process. The model represented the data satisfactorily for the conversion of toluene to benz

摘要:
AbstractThe evolution of carbon black technology allows, at present, various hydrocarbon products as fillers in complex mixtures. The fillers investigated in this work are made of a blend of five products from different origins. The objective of this work is the study of the correlation between the colloidal stability of the filler and the quality of the carbon black, as well as the relation between the degree of dispersity of the carbon black and the resin tensile strength.

摘要:
AbstractThe effects of the simple composition‐dependent combining rules (conventional, Adachi‐Sugie and van Laar‐Stryjek‐Vera‐type) and Huron‐Vidal‐NRTL mixing rules and different cubic equations of state (Redlich‐Kwong, Soave‐Redlich‐Kwong, Peng‐Robinson and Peng‐Robinson‐Stryjek‐Vera) on excess molar volume correlation are examined. The results obtained for some asymmetric non‐ideal mixtures indicate very good agreement between correlated and experimental data in all cases when Huron‐Vidal‐NRTL mixing rules are coupled with the Peng‐Robi
