摘要:
AbstractThere has been a growing interest in control strategies that optimize a given performance criterion to improve process efficiencies. Optimal control techniques, such as LQP, have been available but did not find much acceptance in process industries because of certain problems that are involved in their application. In this paper an approach is presented which alleviates these problems. Simulation results show that the proposed approach works well for servo and regulatory control problems.

AbstractGas holdup and pressure loss were measured for various gas‐liquid systems in a batch, multistage bubble column. Experimental results show that the use of screen plates (α = 0.64) considerably increases the gas holdup but introduces a significant pressure loss for the two‐phase mixture. AbstractA photographic technique was devised for obtaining drop size distribution in a liquid‐liquid (kerosene‐water) spray column. Drop sizes were determined with the aid of a reference ball, using a double‐flash technique with side lighting. Experimentally analyzed Sauter mean diameters were in good agreement with those predicted by the Kumar and Hartland correlations. AbstractExperimental results are presented of wall effect for the slow motion of spheres in elastic, constant‐viscosity liquids. The results are correlated in terms of diameter ratio ford/D<0.3, and Weissenberg number We<5. 摘要:
AbstractSpherical electrode carbon particles prepared from carbon rods of dry cell batteries have been used to study the attrition behaviour in a bubbling fluidized bed combustor. Experiments have been conducted in a 40 mm I.D. and 1 m high fluidized bed combustor operated at 1 m/s superficial velocity. The bed was operated with nitrogen and with two different oxygen concentrations at 850°C to study the effect of combustion on attrition of these particles. The experimental technique used allowed the time resolution of attrited fines generation, providing detailed curves of attrition rates as a function of time. Attrition rate constants have been evaluated. Results show an enhancement of attrition due to combustion even for spherical, homogeneous and smooth particles
