摘要:
Graft copolymerization of acceptor monomers MA and MMA onto Himachali wool fiber in an aqueous medium was studied by using Mn(acac)s as initiator. Nitric acid was found to catalyze the graft copolymerization. Percentage of grafting and percent efficiency have been determined as functions of the concentration of chelate, nitric acid, monomer, time, and temperature, Under optimum conditions, MMA produced a maximum grafting of 82.5% while MA afforded maximum grafting to the extent of 27.5%. Relative reactivities of MA and MMA toward grafting have been compared with those of EA, BA, and VAc reported earlier from this laboratory. Different vinyl monomers were found to follow the following reactivity order toward grafting onto wool fiber in the presence of Mn(acac)3: MMA > EA > BA > MA > VAc. An attempt has been made to explain the observed reactivity pattern shown by different vinyl monomers in graft copolymerization reactions.

摘要:
The graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto cellulose using tetravalent manganese as the initator has been studied. AII increase in initiator concentration up to 1.0 × 10−2Mincreases the graft yield. With a further increase, the graft yield decreases. The graft yield also increases with an increase of monomer concentration and temperature. There is an initial increase in graft yield with acid concentration up to 4.5 × 10−2Mafter which the graft yield decreases. The effect of addition of solvents, CuSO4concentration, and redox system on the rate of grafting has been studied and a suitable kinetic scheme has been pictured.

摘要:
Thermogravimetry has been employed to study the kinetics of thermal decomposition of cadmium caprate and laurate, and a probable mechanism of decomposition is proposed. The Freeman and Carroll method establishes zero-order kinetics. The energy of activations obtained by the Coats and Redfern method are consistent with the results of the Freeman and Carroll method. The infrared absorption spectral characteristics of these soaps and their respective fatty acids have been reported. The structures of the soaps are also proposed.

摘要:
Copolyimides were prepared in two steps by ring-opening polyaddition of pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) with oxalyl dihydrazide (0) and an aromatic diamine; viz., diaminodiphenyl methane (M), p-phenylene diamine (P), or benzidine (B) in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), followed by thermal cyclodehydration. O content was restricted to 10%. Kinetics of imidization of polyamic acid samples was studied. The effect of structure and composition of copolymers on thermal properties was evaluated.
