摘要:
The use of chemical modifications on PVC for the study of abnormal structures from polymer is presented. To determine labile chlorine, the reaction of the polymer with phenol and the selective isotopic exchange of the chlorine with radioactive thionyl chloride have been used. The methods of determination of labile chlorine from PVC based on the chemical modifications give results which are in good agreement with those obtained by direct NMR measurements.

摘要:
The influence of the tacticity on PVC reactivity is discussed on the basis of preliminary results obtained in ionic dehydrohalo, genation and chlorination reactions. From the reaction of an atactic PVC and a 70% syndiotactic PVC with LiCl in dimethyl-formamide and hexamethylphosphortriamide as solvents, it follows that both the reaction rate and the polyene sequence distribution depend markedly on the syndiotacticity content. This effect is accounted for by the fact that the isotactic parts are preferred in dimethylformamide and the syndiotactic ones in hexamethylphosphoramide. On the other hand, the chlorination of PVC appears to be easier through the heterotactic parts than through the syndiotactic sequences as shown by13C-NMR.

摘要:
The formation of longer polyene chains (thermal discoloration) has been found to be avoidable by using thiol-s-triazines, such as 2-anilino-4,6-dithiol-s-triazine (AF), which hardly reacts with the original chlorine atoms but tends to replace the activated chlorine (allylic chloride) that plays an important role in triggering zipperlike dehydrochlorination. The optimum stabiliizing system is: PVC, 100; DOP, 50; AF, 0.18; Zn stearate, 0.5; Ba stearate, 1.5 parts.
