摘要:
The photoinduced graft polymerization of acrylic acid and n-butyl acrylate on polyvinyl chloride or carbon monoxide-vinyl chloride copolymer by using benzophenone as a sensitizer was carried out. In graft polymerization of acrylic acid, the degree of grafting was low. However, graft polymerization of n-butyl acrylate or acrylic acid-n-butyl acrylate were higher than that of acrylic acid. Turbidimetry, DTA, and TGA of the graft polymer were examined. As the graft polymer was a weak polyacid, the pKawas estimated according to the Henderson equation, and the relationship between pKaand the acrylic acid unit content in the graft polymer was derived.

摘要:
In the present study the kinetics of the cationic polymerization of lactones has been considered. The differences in basicities of a monomer and a polymer in various systems have been taken into account. The kinetic data on ε-caprolactone polymerization obtained have been discussed on the basis of the mechanism including the following reactions: 1) chain propagation; 2) reversible combination of the active centers by the carbonyl group of the monomer; and 3) reversible combination of the active centers by the carbonyl group of the polymer.

摘要:
A cotton cellulose derivative that forms charge-transfer complexes was prepared in yarn form. A charge-transfer complex is composed of two partners, one referred to as thedonorand the other as anacceptorof electrical charge. In the present investigation, adonorwas chemically bound to the cotton. It was shown that the modified donor cellulose adsorbs various acceptors from solution. Celluloses possessing donor or acceptor moieties are potentially useful as chromatographic agents and also in medicinal chemistry where a controlled release of a chemical agent is desired.

摘要:
The hydrogen bonding characteristics of well-characterized nitrocellulose samples were studied by means of IR spectroscopy. Results obtained for nitrocellulose samples of varying nitrogen content showed that the strength of the hydrogen bond increases with decreasing nitrogen content. In addition, atmospheric moisture was found to hydrogen bond with nitrocellulose hydroxyl groups. The implications of these findings on the deterring phase of the small arms propellant manufactruring process are discussed.
