摘要:
The operation of a gas-liquid stirred tank reactor is simulated, including batch operation, steady and unsteady state, continuous operation and cyclic variable volume operation. A pseudo first order reaction is considered. Analytical expressions for the enhancement factor of gas absorption rate are derived for each case, and productivity obtainable under different operation policies is evaluated. Results obtained are shown graphically for specific cases for the purpose of demonstrating the influence of some of the parameters on the system

摘要:
In situ initiation of strong crystalline fibres in a polymer melt can be achieved in a counter rotating twin screw extruder at temperatures slightly higher than the melting temperature of the polymer. The resulting reinforcement not only increases the tensile strength in the main fibre direction but also in the perpendicular direction. The fibres can be detected microscopically and by X-ray diffraction combined with annealing techniques. The exploratory work reported here indicates possibilities to produce a matrix of fibres filled with solidified melt.

摘要:
The low temperature oxidation of a Montana subbituminous coal was investigated using round bottom 100 ml flasks in constant temperature baths. The experiments were carried out in normal and oxygen enriched air at 30°C, 45°C and 70°C with particle sizes ranging from 4 mesh to 100 mesh. Periodic analysis of gas samples from the flasks provided the rate data. The reactivity of the as received coal was compared with that of the same coal dried (i) in high pressure steam and (ii) in hot water

摘要:
The rheological behavior of low-rank coal-water slurries was studied using a Brookfleld Rheolog viscometer. A Sarpy Creek subbituminous coal from Montana, with particle sizes ranging from 0.044 mm to 0.223 mm, was used. The solids concentration in the slurry varied from 15 to 65 weight % and the temperature was maintained constant at 82°F. The rheological behavior of the slurry made from as received coal was compared with that of the slurry made from hot water dried coal

摘要:
The effects of crude oil acid number and brine concentration on the interfacial behavior of caustic/crude oil systems were investigated. The effect of increased brine concentration was generally to increase the minimum interfacial tension (IFT) while low IFT values were retained for longer periods of time. Varying the crude oil acid number caused the shape of the IFT versus time curve to change, while the minimum IFT remained constant. These combined results imply that Lagmuir and not Henry soption (adsorption/desorption) kinetics were operative

摘要:
Two different but related two-dimensional network models are used to elucidate the concept of relative permeability in simultaneous liquid-liquid flow in porous media. The first model is designed for monosized sphere packs while the other, consisting of spherical pore chambers interconnected by capillaries of variable length and radius, is intended for more general porous media. The effects of various operating conditions and physical factors—pressure gradient, wettability, surface tension, throat and pore size distributions, imbibition or drainage—on relative permeability are studied. Experimental data are also presented to confirm various aspects of the theory.

摘要:
The influence of external mass transfer limitations on optimum temperature operations policies, and on the reaction and deactivation parameters is determined for a first-order primary reaction and first-anddth-order reactant-independent deactivation kinetics occurring in a fixed-bed reactor. This is now done using the correct optimum temperature operations criterion. The rate of temperature rise is lower when external mass transfer limitations are present compared to the diffusion-free condition. The apparent activation energy for reaction is not only different from its intrinsic value but it is also time-variant along the optimum temperature operations policy.

摘要:
Similar multiplicity features were observed during ammonia oxidation on supported or unsupported Pt catalysts, whether in the isothermal or nonisothermal modes of operation. Two types of isothermal multiplicity patterns were observed upon varying ammonia concentration. The simplest model predicting the transition between the two must have a pitchfork singularity. The same singularity accounts also for the diagrams observed with varying oxygen concentration. The singularities of the isothermal kinetics are inferred also from nonisothermal experiments

摘要:
Bubble Point measurements were made for the following ternary systems: nitrogen-methane-propane, nitrogen-methane-normal butane, and nitrogen-methane-normal pentane. The temperature range was 122 to 205 K and the pressure range was 0.34 to 5.37 MPa. Bubble point pressures were reproducible to within ±0.007 MPa.

摘要:
Physical mechanisms responsible for the suspension of solid particles in semi-batch bubble column slurry reactors in bubble flow are identified, thus allowing the classification of solids into four states: free, engaged, wake-entrained and captured particles. A theory is then presented to predict the axial distribution of solids when wake-entrained and captured particles are absent. Reasonable agreement is found between the theory and experimental data obtained in this work and those reported by otherinvestigators.
