摘要:
A general method-for deriving evolution equations for long interfacial waves in two-phase flow is presented. Particular attention is paid to the form of the stress conditions in curvilinear coordinates. The method is applied to a class of film flows in which the interface is stress-free. The resulting evolution equations are presented for both planar and cylindrical film flows and the simple “conservation“ form of these equations is discussed and exhibited.

摘要:
The relaxation method is used to calculate mole fractions and temperature profiles in a rectification column where a chemical reaction takes place. The method is general and the non-ideal vapor-liquid equilibria can be easily incorporated. The computer time is very low and the danger of divergence can be alleviated by an appropriate guess of relaxation factor. Calculated problems involving esterification reactions are presented.

摘要:
Interfacial concentrations were found using a specially designed interferometer and a flowing junction cell. The relationship between refractive index and concentration was established by means of a new refractometer. Both optical instruments had a sensitivity of 1 × 10−1.

摘要:
An experimental investigation was carried out to study the effect of increasing active site population (up to 2500 sites/cm2) on the nucleate boiling characteristics of Freon 113. A special technique was employed for the preparation of the surfaces. The superheat required to drive a particular heat flux was found to decrease with increasing spot density.
