摘要:
In briefAllergic contact dermatitis in active Patients can arise from exposure to certain types of sports equipment and topical analgesics. The reaction usually produces pruritus, erythema, and eczema. Patch tests are not usually needed; a clinical diagnosis is readily made when the allergen no longer touches the skin and the rash disappears quickly. Management also includes treating the presenting dermatitis and suggesting allergy-free alternatives.

摘要:
In briefCryotherapy is a readily accessible, inexpensive modality for treating acute athletic injuries. However, prolonged cryotherapy can cause peripheral nerve injury, especially in athletes who have little subcutaneous fat. The six cases reported here resolved spontaneously within 6 months. Simple measures that can help avoid nerve injury include compensating for the thickness of the patient's subcutaneous fat, limiting the duration of treatment, and applying an insulating material between the cold source and the patient's skin.

摘要:
In briefAcute thigh compartment syndrome is a rare but limb-threatening condition that can result when an athlete sustains a thigh contusion. Early diagnosis is imperative; cardinal findings Include pain, thigh distension, decreased knee range of motion, neurovascular impairment, and elevated compartment pressures. Treatment consists of surgical decompression. An early rehabilitation program can restore range of motion, mobility, and sports skills.
