摘要:
In briefA high school football player who was kneed in the groin during a game sustained an injury to his right testicle. Surgical exploration revealed a large hematocele secondary to a transverse laceration. Treatment consisted of partial excision of the seminiferous tubules and primary closure of the tunica albuginea. He was allowed to return to football the following year but was advised to wear a protective cup.

摘要:
In briefA 15-year-old boy with severe hemophilia who had played soccer the previous year was denied continued participation following a screening examination by a different physician. Athletes with hemophilia, such as this boy, can pose a difficult dilemma to physicians, who might inappropriately advise them to participate in—or to avold—sports. Hemophiliac athletes should be advised about sports participation only after their physicians review the type and severity of hemophilia. Usually individuals with hemophilia may participate safely in noncontact sports, but contact sports should be avoided.

摘要:
In the sport of swimming, floating doesn't count—swimmers have to work long and hard for the cardiovascular benefits. To make those workouts a little more enjoyable, swim fins are on the market, propelling swimmers through the water faster and adding a kick to the sport. But swimmers may not be gettingallthe benefits that they expect from these fins.
