摘要:
In briel: Classic tennis elbow is the result of a pathological entity the authors call fibroangiomatous hyperplasia. Their conservative treatment program has resulted in a high success rate, and includes the following steps: (1) relieving inflammation and pain with rest, ice, anti-inflammatory medications, and occasionally cortisone injections; (2) promoting the healing process with high-voltage galvanic stimulation; (3) exercises for strength, endurance, and flexibility in the arm and forearm; and (4) reducing the overload forces that caused the original injury by using a counterforce brace and modifying the player's technique and equipment. Surgery may be required as a last resort in patients with chronic symptoms.

摘要:
In brief: Responses to a questionnaire given to physicians and clinic directors in the Salt Lake City area indicated the current practices in treating essential hypertension. The most common treatment was step-care drug therapy, although some used exercise as a treatment modality. The authors concluded that: (1) the value of exercise in treating hypertension is not completely understood; (2) the undesirable side effects of drug therapy suggest a closer examination of nonpharmacological treatment; (3) borderline or labile hypertensives are often not treated without specific indications; and (4) exercise physiologists might be helpful to physicians who want to use exercise therapy for their hypertensive patients.

摘要:
In brief: The author explores the possibility of a“sports anemia,”its possible causes, and its effects on an athlete's performance. He says the diagnosis of sports anemia requires no treatment and is based on the history of athletic participation and the exclusion of other forms of anemia such as folate or B12deficiency, thalassemia, and chronic disease. He believes that the borderline anemic state may be an adaptive response to maximize oxygen transport.
