摘要:
Herbst, P. G. Behavioural dimension analysis. A theoretical note.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 1–4.—The method of dimensional analysis, applied to variables measured by means of ratio scales, leads to laws which take the form of multiplicative power functions. It is shown that the method can be extended to variables measured by means of non‐metric scales, and thus applied to a wider range of problems of the type encountered in psych

摘要:
Waern, Y. Structure in similarity matrices. A graphic approach.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 5–16.—The present paper proposes a simple method for representing the structure inherent in the similarity matrix, i.e. a graphic representation. The traditional multidimensional scaling methods are compared with each other and with the graphic representation with regard to representation, interpretation and assumptions concerning the subject's performance. The graph gives a topological representation and the derivation of the graph from the similarity matrix may be made so as to reduce the demands on the subjects somewhat. As to interpretation, the graph is able to reveal dimensions, clusters, and hierarchies. Compared with some multidimensional scaling it gives very similar interpretati

摘要:
Rosén, Anne‐Sofie&Schalling, Daisy. Studying cognitive adaptive processes by means of the Serial Colour Word test. A methodological analysis and a clinical application.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972, 13, 17–26.—Performance on the Serial Colour Word Test (CWT), assumed to reflect cognitive adaptive processes, was studied in a group of criminals. By means of a latent profile analysis of clinical ratings and personality questionnaire scores subgroups of psychopathic and anxiety‐prone subjects were identified. On the basis of findings by Smith et coll. psychopathic subjects were expected to perform differently from anxiety‐prone subjects. Time scores on the CWT were analyzed by several methods. Expected group differences were not obtained. Methodological problems in the administration and scoring of the Serial CWT were discussed and some modifications

摘要:
SmithG. J. W., RuuthE., FranzénG.&SjöholmL. Intermittent regressions in a serial afterimage experiment as signs of schizophrenia.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972, 13, 27 33.—A group of 35 young patients suspected of schizophrenia were tested in a serial afterimage (AI) experiment and were also rated on the Rockland‐Pollin scale. Subjects with high psychotic scores showed one or more regressions to immature (size‐constant, positive, physiognomic) images in their Al serials, images typical of children who cannot clearly distinguish their Ails as subjective phenomena distinct from the outside world. The Al test thus indicates schizophrenics to be characterized by intermittent withdrawal into a world of experiencing the self and non‐self as not clearly distinguished. Regressions were rare in two contr

摘要:
Mellberg K. The Wartegg Drawing Completion Test as a predictor of adjustment and success in industrial school.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 34–38.—The WDCT, a projective personality test, was administered to 284 elementary‐school boys when they were seeking entry to the industrial school. Two years later, their school performance and teacher‐rated adjustment were recorded. The validity of the prediction from the WDCT relative to these criteria was tested on the basis of analytical and intuitive interpretations of the WDCT. The analytical interpretations showed only slight predictive validity. Even intuitive interpretations had a low validity. In the intuitive interpretations trained psychologists used only 4 of 53 analytical WDCT‐

vonWrightJ. M. Free recall of repeated words as a function of intralist variability.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 39–42.—Five “critical” words were repeated 4 times each in constant positions within lists of 80 items. The number of different filler words, and the order of the repeated filler words, was varied between lists. In free recall tests total recall was approximately constant, but the recall of the critical words was significantly better the greater the variation in the intralist context of these words, especially the greater the number of different filler words. The results are interpreted in terms of the encoding variability hyp

StrømnesF. J. The straight serial curve in anticipation. Evidence for a new invariance.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 43–53.—The bow‐shaped serial curve in anticipation learning is usually generated by using counterbalancing techniques. Numerous curves in the literature testify that serial curves from experiments without counterbalancing are often very irregular in appearance. Plotting such curves as well as the classical bow‐shaped ones by proportions of errors and omissions as a function of order of learning, the curves can be shown to be straight ascending ones. On the average subjects thus learn a series of verbal items at a constant rate, irrespective of the experimenter‐determined order of

摘要:
BergströmB. The effect of sleep loss and threat‐induced stress upon tracking.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 54–60.‐18 conscript soldiers were divided into z matched groups and trained on a missile‐type tracking task for 6 hrs. The experimental group was deprived of sleep for 75 hrs and both groups were then subjected to stress induced by electric shocks. Tracking performance was unaffected by sleep loss, probably due to the short duration of each trial. Performance under stress deteriorated in the control group but not in the experimental group. Heart rate decreased gradually under sleep loss but rose markedly under stress, and more so in the control group. Although somewhat inconsistent, the findings indicate that the effects of threat and sleep loss oppose each other by over‐arousing and de‐arousing,

MagnussenS. Enhancement of figure reversal rate in intermittent light.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 61–65.—The reversal rate of an ambiguous visual figure viewed in intermittent light increased with rate of intermittency up to a culminating point, whereafter it gradually fell off to the base level (steady light). The similarity between these results and the Brücke‐Bartley effect (enhancement of apparent brightness at lower flicker rates) is pointed out, and the possibility of a common physiological basis for the two phenomena is sug

HeggelundP. The unidimensional conception of simultaneous achromatic contrast.Scand. J. Psychol., 1972,13, 66–70.—The perceptual changes involved in simultaneous achromatic contrast have been presumed to be specifiable as variation in brightness alone. This conception was not supported when attempts were made to produce identical appearance of two achromatic fields, with different inducing luminance, by varying the luminance in one of them. It was possible to match with respect to either achromatic quality or colour strength, but when matched with respect to quality the fields differed in strength, the field of lowest luminance appearing wea
