摘要:
Some gas pollutants i.e., amines, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and arsenic hydride were studied by collecting the air sample near the industrial areas through indicator tubes. Air sampleswere taken at the height of 1.5–1.6 meters from the ground and the distance of 100–200 meters from the manufacturing factory.

摘要:
Samples of adipose tissue from the abdominal cavity were taken at random at surgeries on abdominal cavity /24 samples/ and at necropsy of the deceased /29 samples/ in the early nineteen eighties. The samples were then analyzed for the presence of chlorinated pesticides by means of gas chromatography with electron capture detection. All the analyzed samples contained beta‐BHC, Lindane, HCB, pp'‐DDE and DDT isomers.

摘要:
A screening procedure was developed for the determination of 49 priority pollutants in soil. An extraction procedure followed by the capillary gas chromotographic technique was used. Dual pH solutions with methylene chloride were used as extraction solvent system; no sample clean‐up procedure was applied. Both base/neutral and acidic fractions were analyzed on the same capillary column (SPB‐1). The relative standard deviation for 5.1 ppm (51 μg/ 10 g) concentration in “zero soil” was less than 25%.

A simple model to predict the time dependent concentration of a sorbing hydrophobic pollutant in a lake was used to compare modeling results with laboratory measurements. The modeling results were obtained for three different forms of describing the pollutants equilibrium between the dissolved phase and the phase adsorbed on sediments while the pollutant is desorbing from the sediments. First a linear desorption isotherm that is equal to the adsorption isotherm was considered, then a nonlinear desorption isotherm was included in the model, and finally it was assumed that the observed nonlinear desorption isotherm is in fact linear and the nonlinearity was exclusively an effect of nonsettling particles. In this last case the appropriate adjustments were made in the model's parameter estimation to compensate for the nonsettling effect. Laboratory studies were conducted using Malathion as the sorting compound. The adsorption/desorption isotherms as well as the kinetics of evaporation of Malathion from solution in a completely mixed system with and without sediments were determined. The results of the modeling and laboratory studies showed that the best agreement between the predicted and the observed values was obtained when the nonlinear desorption isotherm was used to describe the equilibrium between the adsorbed and dissolved phases.

A headspace technique was developed for the determination of volatile compounds (benzene, toluene, chlorobenzene, ethylbenzene, 1,3‐dichlorobenzene, 1,4‐di‐chlorobenzene and 1,2‐dichlorobenzene) from selected 49 priority pollutants in soil. The headspace sample preparation involved a 20‐mL glass vial containing 3 grams soil and 10 mL of pH 13 spiked solution, equilibrated at 30°C for one hour before 0.5 mL headspace was analyzed by capillary gas chromatography. A reference system was employed at the same time by using 3 grams sand in 10 mL pH 13 spiked solution for the study of the efficiency of the soil headepace analysis. Once the recovery rote between the soil and the reference system is established, the ratio can be used for the determination of other soil samples from the same origin. The relative standard deviation for 3 grams soil sample spiked with 5.1 ppm (51μg / 10 mL.) pollutant mixture in a 20 mL viol is less than 3%.
