摘要:
Chrome tanning is widely used in the local tanneries. A considerable amount of chrome is normally left in the exhaust liquor. The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the possibiilty of utilizing the spent solution or recovering the chrome by other techniques which will help greatly in improving the economy of the process and will also reduce the chrome content in the effluent.

Shoot‐applied nickel (Ni) treatments produced symptomatology, foliar Ni accumulation, and cytological changes in tomato(Lycopersicon esculentumMill.) similar to those caused by treatments with root‐applied nickel (Ni). Leaf damage resulting from 100 ug/ml foliar Ni‐treatments consisted of interveinal chlorosis and spotting necrosis which appeared histologically as tissue collapse, cell clumping, and chloroplast disintegration. Shoot‐treated plants accumulated more Ni in leaves than in roots; whereas the reverse was true in root‐treated plants. Interference with root‐to‐shoot manganese translocation was attributed to attenuated vascular tissue and phloem blockage. Evidence of reduced nutrient transport and inhibited meristem activity due to Ni toxicity presents a potential for crop damage from excessive Ni in the atmosphere as well as in the soil environment.

摘要:
In this work, anodic oxidation of C.I. direct blue 21 was carried out in an electrochemical reactor at a constant temperature of 20°C. The technique was found successful in removing the color of the dye from aqueous solutions containing 0.5 M sodium sulfate. Variables studied were: initial dye concentration, solution flow rate to the reactor, anode area, current density and time duration of anodic oxidation. It was found that the rate of dye removal increased with increasing current density, duration of anodic oxidation and solution flow rate. The mass transfer coefficient was found to increase with increasing reactor current density, decreasing the area of the anode and decreasing the initial dye concentration.

摘要:
The design of a laboratory apparatus for application to continuous liquid‐liquid extraction of organic matter from sludges is discussed. It is based on the “spray‐tower” industrial plant principle, and it is suitable also for high volatile solvents as light petroleum. In this way it was possible to overcome typical disadvantages showed by traditional extracting devices and methodologies, such as incomplete recovery, thermal degradation, foam forming and tedious manipulations.

摘要:
The effect of storage on the distribution of trace elements (lead, cadmium, copper, mercury, and Zinc) has been studied. Relations between the percentage of metal ion present as adsorbed on container surface, as adsorbed on the suspended particles, and as free ions in solution and time of storage in glass bottles have been constructed for the five metals. A method for determining the distribution of trace elements between solution and the suspended particles in the undisturbed natural water in its source has been developed using experimental values of the distribution of these elements in a collected sample analyzed in the laboratory.

The ammonia fleet is thin and thus very susceptible to market forces. Currently revenue received for the transport of ammonia barely covers variable costs. Owners are scrapping vessels at a relatively young age. This situation is reviewed and the future ramifications on ammonia exporters and importers are discussed.
