摘要:
The authors sought to identify the problems non‐Native American nurse researchers might have in gaining access to Native American cultures. The authors' method was nursing ethnography; several different tribes were observed. Findings revealed five significant categories of barriers to health care: understanding of cultural differences, language barriers, differences in interpersonal communication, historical antipathy I fear of exploitation by Native Americans, and distrust of researcher motivation. The authors make several recommendations for researchers to prepare extensively if they plan to work with Native American

摘要:
The issues of euthanasia and physician‐assisted suicide have been debated in classrooms, courtrooms, medical and ethical journals, on television talk shows, and at the bedsides of patients. This article discusses in broad perspective the topic of physician‐assisted suicide. The important ethical, legal, and moral issues are presented in a debate format. The presentation of the arguments is by no means exhaustive but rather reflective of current nursing, medical, and ethical journal articles published on the topic of physician‐assisted suicide. An attempt has been made to balance each argument without bias, thus allowing the reader to make an individual jud

摘要:
Nurses intuitively recognize an optimistic outlook as a personality component that has a positive impact on clients' health‐related behavior. Optimism, however, has not been studied from the perspective of nursing. The author did a concept analysis of optimism (the first step in grounding the study of optimism in nursing practice); identified attributes, antecedents, and consequences; and developed a definition of optimism. A case study contrasts examples of a model, borderline, and contrary positions and illustrates their difference

摘要:
As individuals, we have history, the present, and the future. Each of us is the embodiment of these experiences. In order to understand nursing today and its future paths, our history needs exploration. In an effort to provide the reader a perspective on where we were, how far we have traveled, or, in some instances, how little has changed, we reprint this article from
