摘要:
After a short discussion of the term “periglacial”; for which two versions, “periglazial”; and “periglaziair”; exist in German, the development of periglacial research as reflected in the German literature is outlined. The paper focuses on research activities in arctic and subarctic environments since World War II, a phase in which most attention has been devoted to alpine periglacial environments in various parts of the world.

摘要:
The positions of ice dispersal centers and of ice cap limits, both on land and on the sea bed, have been located fairly precisely by means of an analysis of marginal features produced by the last glaciation of Northern Eurasia, using in particular new data on the geomorphology of the beds of the Barents and Kara seas. The configuration of the various ice caps was then reconstructed on the basis of both glaciological and geomorphological data. Of particular interest is the conclusion that both the Barents and Kara seas were covered by a number of independent ice caps, contiguous to varying degrees and for verying periods, rather than by one massive ice cap, as had been earlier proposed. 摘要:
On the basis of aerial counts made in the summers of 1976 and 1977 the author reports numbers and distributions of waterfowl on the Malozemel'skaya Tundra, i.e., between the Pechora and Indiga rivers and the Barents Sea coast. Calculations would indicate that in excess of 1.5 million swans, geese, and ducks nest and/or molt in this region. Effective conservation measures are suggested to protect this valuable wildlife resource. (The translation is by William Barr, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon.)

摘要:
The article reports on the considerable influx of population into the Ob’ North in connection with oil‐and‐gas developments during the past two decades. For example, the population of the Khanty‐Mansi Autonomous Okrug increased from 124,000 to 569,000 and that of the Yamal‐Nenets A.O. from 62,000 to 158,000 between 1959 and 1979. The author also examines associated changes in the ethnic, demographic and employment structures. Finally he suggests some possible solutions to the severe problem of high labor turnover in the Ob’ North; these would include an improvement in living and working conditions, increased emphasis on professional and technical training and increased mechanization. (The translation is by William Barr of the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon.)

摘要:
A detailed structural‐geomorphological analysis of the coastal plains and the continental shelf of the East Arctic sector of the USSR distinguishes four groups of structures: (1) arch‐dome uplifts inherited from the late orogenous stage; (2) structures due to differentiated downwarping of the shelf; (3) block structures in the zone of shear stress; (4) rift structures. The delineated system of circumpolar faults shows similarity between submerged and emerged parts of the Arctic margin of the continent, the system itself being a structure of planetary rank. Its special features and contacts with older continental structures indicate that, besides the downwarping of the shelf, lateral shear movements have also been important.
