Eigenvector alignment techniques play an important role in the characteristic locus design of commutative controllers for multivariable systems. Previous work restricted attention to the approximation of eignevectors by real constant vectors. The paper extends the flexibility and effectiveness of the design by considering the approximation of eigenvector pairs by constant complex-conjugate vectors.

摘要:
The design of multivariable adaptive model-following control systems is described using the theory of variable-structure systems (VSS). Both the model plant transient and the error response transient can be specified in advance. The discontinuous control enforces sliding motion on switching hyperplanes in the error state space, and the dynamic response is insensitive to certain parameter variations and disturbances. The design is straightforward and requires little computational effort.

The paper considers the problem of single-input single-output decoupling of linear multivariable two-dimensional systems. In particular, a method is presented which yields the decoupling state feedback controller matrices, which, when applied to the open-loop system, yield a closed-loop system whose transfer-function matrix is diagonal and nonsingular. This, in effect, simplifies the multi-input multi-output original system to a number of single-input single-output systems. Sufficient conditions are established for the state feedback decoupling problem to have a solution. Two examples are included to illustrate the proposed decoupling method.

The theory of adaptive control usually assumes that the controlled system is linear and of known finite order. The robustness problem examined here is to find the extent to which these conditions may be violated while retaining stability of the adaptive algorithm. Explicit frequency-domain circle-type results are given for certain classes of nonlinear or high-order systems.

摘要:
A new inductive transducer, using the technique of a series resonance bridge for accurate and sensitive measurement of angular speed, is described. This technique is essentially a contactless method of speed measurement, in which only a thin slotted aluminium disc need be attached to the rotating member. The slotted disc rotates in the airgap of a laminated steel core. Eddy currents induced in the aluminium disc oppose the magnetic field of a coil wound on the laminated steel core, and cause an apparent variation of inductance in a cyclic manner at a rate proportional to the angular speed. The variation of this inductance is sensed by a series-resonance bridge circuit and is used to modulate the amplitude of a carrier voltage, producing an electrical response whose frequency is a measure of the angular speed of the rotating member. This inductive transducer imposes negligible load on the rotating member under test, and offers a simple lowcost and compact device which can replace typical digital or pulse tachometers for incremental motion control or in phase-locked loop control systems or sensing applications. Furthermore, with modifications it is appropriate for use in remote speed sensing. The design details and experimental results of this transducer are presented.
