A maximum likelihood cubic fit has been found for the correlation between relative sunshine and cloud amount for the monthly averaged seven year data from 16 stations in Nigeria. Regression coefficients have been given for each of these stations. An area-wise regression analysis carried out produced the following two equations for estimation of per cent sunshine n/N from cloud amount C (oktas)] in Nigeria:

摘要:
Measurements of global solar radiation on a horizontal surface and duration of sunshine are presented. The results illustrate the abundance of solar energy in Oman and show that the potential of solar energy is less in the summer months than in the rest of the year, which is contrary to what is known for the other Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The monthly variations of n/N and HIH°, where n is the measured monthly mean of daily hours of bright sunshine, N is the maximum possible daily hours of sunshine, H is the measured monthly mean of daily global solar radiation and H°is the monthly mean of daily extraterrestrial radiation, are also shown for three areas in Oman, viz. Salalah, Masirah and Ali Sib in addition to the overall variations in Oman.

摘要:
A medium capacity (140 litre) water-ammonia absorption refrigerator, thermally stimulated by a charcoal-stove is being developed to store food in remote locations and island communities of Papua New Guinea. This low initial cost system has no moving parts, so there are not likely to be excessive maintenance costs.

An experimental low-energy house, with a novel structure incorporating an unusually large amount of expanded polystyrene insulation, was subjected to extensive monitoring of its insulation and moisture performance while occupied by a family. This paper discusses the structure and instrumentation, and reports a summary of results in which the overall energy budget is deduced.

At present, the utilization of vapour compression plants in refrigeration and air conditioning fields may have a negative impact on the environment both in direct and indirect terms. In fact, polluting substances are released during the conversion processes which occur to make the necessary mechanical energy available; but it is also acknowledged that a great many of the usual working fluids take part in stratospherical ozone destruction and/or in the so-called “greenhouse effect”.

摘要:
The performance of a passive heated and cooled education building, located in Israel's Negev desert, is studied. A year's worth of measured data are presented and analysed from the viewpoint of thermal comfort, Winter heating, which is effected via direct-gain passive solar means, is found to provide comfort conditions without the need for a backup system. Summer cooling is provided via the use of enhanced nocturnal ventilation, a method which is suitable for the particular desert location involved. The cooling system is found to be satisfactory, with certain qualifications. In addition to site-specific results, some conclusions of a more general nature are drawn regarding the design of passive solar public buildings.

Hydrogen was identified by Lavoisier in 1783, who gave it the name “hydrogen”, meaning “water-former”. Hydrogen, unlike coal, is not a primary fuel but a secondary one, manufactured from water using either fossil or non-fossil (i.e. renewable) energy sources. Whilst heat and electricity, the other two main secondary energy sources, cannot be transported over global distances and seasonally stored without considerable loss, hydrogen can be.
