摘要:
The oil intensive development pattern applied' by Venezuela in the last 40 years, has limited the regional economic growth of the rural areas while the big metropolitan areas are suffering an accelerated and irrational population increase. The corrollary of this rapid industrialisation has been excessive urbanization, high rate of unemployment, rural emigration and a lack of services in more than half the territory. The very centralized energy sector does not even consider settlements with less than 500 people.

摘要:
The paper presents an analysis of the temperature response of a room in a multistorey office building in thermal hot and arid climates of Egypt. The offect of various parameters have been studied; shading, orientation, building materials namely clay brick and prefabricated concrete units, proportion of window area, room volume and ventilation rates for summer and winter conditions. The admittance procedure has been used and a computer programme has been developed to calculate the temperature response.

The ancient Roman criptoporticus found in many Roman ruins is an underground vaulted structure. Its exact function is not known accurately. One possible use for the criptoporticus would be for food storage due to its coolness, However, due to the elaborate decoration of some of them, some archeologists suspect that it could be used for human comfort too.

摘要:
Dehumidification of air can be performed by absorption of moisture in hygroscopic solutions like calcium chloride and lithium bromide. The dilute solution can be then regenerated by using solar energy. The present investigation deals with the theoretical and experimental analysis of a solar regenerator. The effect of normal convective velocity has been studied and it has been found that the mass transfer coefficient is lower when this velocity is considered. Experiments have been conducted with parallel and counterflow regenerators using both lithium bromide and calcium chloride solution and their performance has been compared. Under identical conditions the performance with lithium bromide has been found to be better than with calcium chlorides solution.

摘要:
In developing countries situated in tropical climates, the majority of the heat transmitted to the internal environment is received by the roof. In these countries it is common to construct roofs from thin sheet materials. This paper examines, theoretically and practically, the concept of providing a false ceiling panel beneath the single roof sheet to form a hollow, ventilated roof structure to reduce the ingress of solar heat gain. It concludes that a hollow roof structure does appear to have certain thermal advantages over a plain sheet roofing structure, bringing about a reduction in thermal flux of between 25% and 30%.
