摘要:
The Hodges Residence is a superinsulated direct gain passive solar home in Ames, Iowa (latitude 42.0°N, longitude 93.8°W). The architect was David A. Block, A.I.A., and the solar system was designed by Block and Laurent Hodges. The home was designed in 1978 and built in 1978–1979; it was a winner in the 1978 National Passive Solar Residential Design Competition. A notable feature of the home was its innovative use of concrete cored slabs as heat storage. The home has been occupied for ten years and has proved to have a very low Home Heating Index of less than 0.7W/°Cm2(3 Btu/°-Fday ft2). The performance of the home during its first ten years of occupancy, its economics, and occupant reactions are described.

摘要:
A number of papers have established the feasibility of melting waxes for candle making using solar energy. In this paper, methods of upgrading the systems and alternative systems of better efficiency are proposed. The following aspects of optimal collection of energy are dealt with: (a) optimal orientation of collector, (b) azimuthal tracking and (c) the use of four mirrors to boost the energy incident on the collector.

This paper looks at a simple cash-flow model of development activity, and illustrates the potential for energy savings with reference to some data from two major Australian cities.

The wind speeds measured by the Saudi Meteorological Department at 18 stations distributed over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been analyzed. Monthly average power density distributions were determined for each station.
