摘要:
The Madaras Rotor Power Plant concept has been analysed and updated to determine its capability to compete technically and economically with conventional horizontal axis wind-turbine generators. This concept, developed in the 1930s utilises rotating cylinders, vertically mounted on flat cars, to react with the wind (Magnus effect) and propel an endless train of cars around a closed track at constant speed. Alternators geared to the wheels of each car generate electrical power, which is transmitted to a power station by a trolley system.

New Local Authority school designs in Britain are required to better the thermal performance criteria laid down by the Department of Education and Science Design [1]. Such rules meet the need for background performance checks, but are unable to respond to design decision-making related to optimising the interaction between the building envelope and the climate, to minimise the use of applied energy.

This paper describes a computational prediction technique for calculating internal temperatures in buildings Research Establishment (BRE) admittance procedure. An application of the technique is shown which compares the measured and calculated temperatures for a test room which is part of a collaborative research project between the General Organisation for housing, Building and Planning Research (GOHBPR), Cairo and the BRE.
