摘要:
The concept of passivity is developed for systems with a state representation. This development of passivity is related to network passivity and passivity of operators as used by Zames, Falb, Wu and others. This formulation of passivity naturally leads to general stability theorems for feedback systems. AnL2-inputL2-output stability theorem similar to those arising out of passive (positive) operator theory is derived. Also a theorem for Liapunov stability similar to one of Baker and Bergen is obtained. In addition, this formulation leads to bounded-input bounded-state stability theorems.

摘要:
In this paper, Siljak's extension to Mitrovic's method has been used to determine the parameters of a regulator used for improving the steady-state stability of alternators. This is accomplished by computing the stable limits of two of the coefficients of the characteristic equation resulting from the linearized equations of a synchronous machine, tie line and voltage regulator. The method is illustrated by taking a suitable example with its results verified by applying the Routh-Hurwitz criterion

摘要:
Improvements are made to the basic analogue -technique and experimental results obtained from three linear systems. A method is described for modifying the objective function contours to allow overall convergence of the iteration. Experimental results are obtained with the modified contours and compared with the results given by the basic technique.

摘要:
A simple adjustable speed reversible drive d.c. motor control system is described. For the purpose of control only one silicon-controlled rectifier is used in conjunction with a single reactor reversible output magnetic amplifier firing circuit. For reliability and long life magnetic amplifier's are incorporated for amplification of the error signal. Reversal of rotation is done by a differential potentiometer and the speed is adjusted to any value from about 10% to rated value by a simple potentiometer. The speed is observed to remain within 2% irrespective of load and line voltage fluctuation

摘要:
Aizerman's method is a technique for investigating the asymptotic stability of a large class of autonomous feedback systems with one or more memoryless non-linear elements. Using an initial linearization, the method yields sectors to which the input-output characteristics of the non-linearity must be restricted in order to assure asymptotic stability in the large. Through a series of transformations a method for determining the sector of stability which is directly amenable to machine computation is presented in this paper.

摘要:
A new method of evaluating quadratic form performance indices, time and time-squared-weighted quadratic form performance indices for a linear time-invariant regulator system described by state variable equationsẊ=AXis presented in this paper. The performance indices are evaluated completely in time domain, and hence the method requires no knowledge of either the Laplace transform or the complex variable theory. It is brought out that this method is much simpler than the methods available in. the literature. A numerical example for a third-order system is worked out to illustrate the method. The performance indices ISE, ITSE and ISTSE (for type-1 unity feedback systems) that are extensively used and reported in the literature are obtained in this paper as a special case of the method used here for evaluating the more general quadratic form performance indices.

摘要:
In this paper, the Lyapunov operator corresponding to a stable system is described in terms of its mapping of the set of positive definite matrices. This set and its image are shown to have geometrical descriptions which simplify the analysis. This geometrical approach also yields a method for finding the ‘best’ Lyapunov function of the quadratic type for a system with a variable parameter
