摘要:
On the basis of a new definition of filters, the order of the minimal-order optimal filters for general discrete-time linear stochastic systems is obtained. A method is established for constructing a minimal-order optimal filter.

摘要:
Notations and power-energy relationships are reviewed for the basic multiports used in bond graph analysis and extended to include two new multiports called the inductance and capacitance mutators respectively. With these multiports, the technique of bond graph analysis can be applied to electromagnetic and electrostatic field systems and illustrations of some of the bond graph structures appropriate to energy conversion devices such as transformers and machines are developed accordingly.

摘要:
An explicit solution for a class of delay-differential equations is found in the form of an infinite series. Methods have been given how to find the coefficients of this infinite series in the form of a recursive formula, or in the form of a tree structure. Examples are given to illustrate the method.

摘要:
A complete solution to the sampled-data linear-quadratic regulator problem for systems with generalized transportation lags is presented. Linear feedback laws are shown to be optimal under a general quadratic cost which allows regulation of both the lumped and distributed subsystems. The optimal feedback gains are determined as solutions to recursive matrix equations which can be solved off-line.

摘要:
This work considers the determination of the feedback coefficients for a linear time-invariant, system, having one control input, such that, the characteristic roots of the closed-loop system matrix lie at specified points in the complex plane. This is achieved by considering the relationships between the eigenvalues and the traces (of various orders) of a matrix. The process merely requires the solution of linear algebraic equations and is easily computerized.

摘要:
The adaptive relay, control of single-input second-order systems is considered. The plant parameters are assumed constant, but unknown. The controller dispenses with a learning (or identification) phase and does not organize itself through adaptive correction, but identifies a certain curve in the state space. This curve is associated with sliding motion. The strategy is analysed for the double-integrator plant. The identical controller can be applied to other second-order plants. The system response is found to be close to the time-optimal response.

摘要:
A way of avoiding certain difficulties in MacFarlane's work on eigenvalues of a rational transfer function matrixG(s), is suggested. Evidence is then given for and against the existence of a general stability theorem in terms of these eigenvalues. The evidence suggests that no such theorem can be obtained without some condition onG(s). and any general condition onG(s)is unlikely to be simple

摘要:
This paper presents IIBAV dynamic filtering and smoothing algorithms for non-linear discrete systems involving time delays. Under the assumption that the conditional probability density functions of the state variables are Gaussian, the above algorithms can be evaluated to arbitrary order in terms of the mean and variance for the system non-linearities.

摘要:
The methods used during the eighteenth century to regulate the power output of the steam engine are examined. Both open and closed loop systems are considered ; these include load regulation, engine stroke length and frequency control, boiler water level and pressure control, uses of energy storage devices—fly-wheel, accumulator—and the flyball or Watt governor. It is shown that although some closed loop systems were used, the engineers of the time were unaware of the importance of ‘feedback’, the main emphasis was on obtaining static equilibrium of the system. It was through the economic theories of the period that an understanding of the concept of feedback emerged.
