摘要:
The dynamic feedback control for a class of singularly perturbed linear time-varying systems with inaccessible state is considered through a separate observer-based controller design for two lower-dimensional subsystems in two different time-scales. A composite stabilizing feedback controller using a full-order observer is synthesized from the separate observer-based controllers, the mutually independent gains of which do not require knowledge of the small singular perturbation parameter.

摘要:
In this paper, Beveral sovable classes of linear time-varying systems are identified and explicit methods for finding their solutions are given. It is also shown that any linear time-varying system can be transformed into an algebraically equivalent commutative linear time-varying system or a time-invariant system, provided that an appropriate non-singular (time-varying) algebraic transformation can be found. Consequently it is concluded that the eommutativity of a linear time-varying system is not an inherent property of a dynamic system, but rather is a representation, property.

摘要:
A method to design optimal experiments for parameter estimation in distributed systems is given. The design variables considered are the boundary perturbation and the spatial location of measurement sensors. The design criterion used is the determinant of Fisher's information matrix. It is shown that suitable choice of these variables leads to improved parameter accuracy. Two examples are used to illustrate this method. The first example is concerned with sensor location for estimating the velocity of propagation and the damping coefficient of a vibrating string. The second example is concerned with the estimation of the thermal diffusivity and radiation constant for a heat diffusion process. It is also shown that the design philosophy can be applied to a wide class of systems described by partial differential equations.

摘要:
The possibility of sampled-data feedback control for linear time-invariant multiple delay systems is studied using the constraint of piecewise constant control inputs. A split system representation is utilized to derive both necessary and sufficient conditions for control of the system state to the null function in the state space.

摘要:
An algebraic condition necessary for controlling the state of linear time-invariant delay systems to the null function is used to determine the concomitant structural properties of second and third order systems. It is shown that the characteristic quasipolynomials for the undriven systems are polynomials of second and third order, respectively.

摘要:
Model reduction of linear, time-invariant, single-input, single-output systems over desired frequency intervals (low-pass, band-pass and high-pass) is considered in this paper. Order reduction is effected by manipulating two orthogonal polynomial series, one representing the high-order system and the other representing the approximating low-order model. The method is a generalization of the classical Padé approximations, however, by a special transformation it becomes the simple (classical) Padé problem, thus retaining the computational attractiveness of the latter.

摘要:
Fast-response excitation systems are capable of influencing turbogenerator performance at subsynchronous resonance frequencies, and this paper shows how suitable excitation control can improve the damping of generator subsynchronous shaft oscillations. A multivariate frequency response method is used to investigate control capabilities and to identify the most beneficial control signals and stabilization requirements. An excitation control scheme is designed, employing a differential shaft speed signal, which stabilizes an initially unstable resonance condition and provides rapid damping of subsynchronous shaft oscillations.

摘要:
The paper presents a discussion on the problem of real-time tracking of time-varying parameters in non-linear continuous-time system models on the basis of discrete-time noisy measurements. A recursive gradient-type output-error identification algorithm possessing high tracking capabilities has been derived by both optimizing a functional of the instantaneous error and introducing discontinuous sensitivity functions of the model output. The analysis of noise influence leads to the definition of a robust identification algorithm characterized by a non-linear transformation of relay type applied to the increments of parameter estimates. Extensive simulation results illustrate the discussion and show the efficiency of the proposed robust algorithm even under high levels of noise.

摘要:
Adapting Silverman's structure algorithm a general, efficient and recursive algorithm is given for the following problem. Given the Laurent expansion at α of a non-singular rational matrixA(p), compute the Laurent expansion of the inverseA(p)−1at α. The use of this algorithm in the inversion of rational and polynomial matrices and in particular the computation of the partial fraction expansion of the inverse are discussed.

摘要:
Two methods are developed by which control systems that are non-linear in the state variables but linear in the inputs may be approximated by bilinear systems in the neighbourhood of a steady state. For both methods the approximations can be made successively more accurate at the expense of higher dimensionality, and can be a considerable improvement over the linear approximation. The resulting dimensionalities are determined as functions of the accuracy. Illustrative examples are given, and finally the two models are compared. Both are found to have considerable merit.
