摘要:
Previous studies concerning the strict equivalence of polynomial system matrices over ℝ[s,z] are continued, with particular reference to conditions under which particular forms of such system matrices are strictly system equivalent to an appropriate canonical form.

摘要:
The geometric properties of the canonical parameter space are used to derive necessary conditions for constraining zeros to lie within or on a central circular region of radius α in thez-plane. These necessary conditions are then compared with the sufficient conditions for the stability of linear discrete time systems.

The deadbeat characteristic of one-step-ahead control is examined in detail. It has been clarified that the plant outputy(k) coincides with the reference outputym(k) for allk≥n-1 +n-m, wherenis the order of the plant andn-mis the relative degree of the plant transfer function.

摘要:
Chemical reactors are considered where unknown parameter variations are model- led by stochastic parameters. The continuous-time process is transformed to an equivalent discrete-time system with stochastic parameters, which is a natural approach in the context of digital control making the analysis much easier. A stabilizability test for this discrete-time model is used to analyse three cases from the chemical engineering literature. It is shown that stability in a mean sense is too weak from an engineering point of view. One should study stability at least in a mean- square sense, which is the approach given here.

摘要:
A new method for designing discrete-time multi-variable predictive controllers is presented. It is based on the ‘predictive state’ model developed directly from the step response of the plant. With the usual state space techniques, the control law with predictive state feedback is derived by using a discrete-time moving horizon optimization. A predictive state observer is then introduced to realize the control law. Some aspects about parameter selection are discussed. The performance of the new design method is demonstrated by some simulation results. Finally, a comparison between the new method and the usual discrete-time optimal control is made to illustrate the characteristic of the predictive control method.

摘要:
Generalized dynamic matrix control is analysed in the internal model control structure. We show that a high-dimensional predictive controller based on the step- response model may be represented by a minimal transfer function. The implicit compensation property of the predictive control is also illustrated.

摘要:
It is shown that the Roesser model (satisfying rank conditions (9)) can be de- composed into two equivalent one-dimensional systems having dynamics in different directions connected in a feedback system. For this class of Roesser models of two- dimensional systems, new necessary and sufficient conditions for local controllability and local observability are established.

摘要:
Hassan and Amin (1987) and Amin and Hassan (1987) have presented a simple algebraic solution for the ‘time-optimal output deadbeat’ (TOOD) regulator problem. This solution, which consists of a state feedback control law, has been obtained for right-invertible systems. These results are generalized here to accom- modate all classes of output-controllable left-invertible systemsS(A, B, C, E).The design of TOOD regulators with internal stability for all classes of right- or output- controllable left-invertible systemsS(A, B, C, E) is also considered. It is shown that the right Wiener-Hopf factorization at infinityof H(z)—the transfer function matrix ofS—is the key tool for solving all TOOD regulator problems. Moreover, the internal stability problem, which will arise if any invariant zero ofSis unstable, is solved by designing a TOOD regulator with internal stability. Finally, numerical examples are worked out to illustrate the generality of the proposed method.

摘要:
Robust pole assignment is a non-linear optimization problem in many variables. We describe numerical methods for determining robust or well-conditioned so-lutions to the problem of pole assignment by state feedback. The solutions are chosen to minimize various objective functions based on the condition number of the eigenvector matrix. Careful choice of parametrization and objective function avoids singularities and artificial variable constraints; explicit formulae for the gradient and hessian permit rigorous stopping criteria and rapid local convergence. Several computational examples are included.

摘要:
Recently the identification of an external force applied to distributed parameter systems has become increasingly important in relation to the analysis and control of geophysical and environmental phenomena. A boundary element approach is developed for identifying the external force applied to a number of points on the domain of a distributed parameter system, which is described by a non- homogeneous partial differential equation of parabolic (diffusion) type. Firstly, an integral equation corresponding to the given partial differential equation is derived. The solution of the integral equation at several reference points is computed by using the boundary element method, and then the locations and magnitudes of the external force are identified with the number of application points by minimizing the sum of the squares of relative errors. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed method.
