摘要:
The object of the present investigation is to provide suitable nonparametric tests for the identity of two univariate populations when there is a random sample of fixed size from one of the populations and the observations from the second population are drawn sequentially by an inverse binomial sampling. A progressive censoring test procedure corresponding to the inverse binomial sample is proposed. Different large sample results of the proposed tests are formulated and examined.

摘要:
In the context of life testing, when the objective is to estimate a parameter of the survival function, we wish to find a region R in k-dimensional Euclidean space such that P(θ ε R) = α and the maximum diameter of R ≤ 2d . This goal cannot be achieved by utilizing the accumulated data from a sample up to a fixed time t . Hence we will consider time-sequential procedure where we will observe the process up to a stopping time γ(E γd) and then construct the region R with maximum diameter 2d which includes θ with probability approximately equal to α.

摘要:
A set of items is called ‘group-testable’ if for any of its subsets it is possible to perform a simultaneous (group) test on the subset with an outcome of "success" or "failure". The "success" outcome indicates that all the tested units are good, and the "failure" outcome indicates that at least one item in the tested subset is defective without knowing which (or how many) are defective. Items of 100% quality cost much more than items of 100q%.quality where q is a positive quantity that is usually greater than 0.9 but strictly less than 1. This is a two-phase decision problem where one must compute the optimal number of cheaper 100q% items to purchase and the optimal group sizes in each stage of the testing process. In this paper first we develop a dynamic programming (DP) model that can be used to find the optimal group sizes in the sequential group-testing process. The optimal solution of the DP is used to find the optimal purchase quantity of the 100q% items. We introduce a heuristic which can reduce the computational complexity of the DP without unduly increasing the expected cost. We discuss several examples of the DP model that finds the optimal group sizes and a non-linear programming model that computes the optimal purchase quantity of the 100q% quality items. Finally, a two-dimensional difference equation is solved to compute the probability of having shortages when the testing is complete.

摘要:
Standard fixed sampling interval (FSI) control charts take samples from a process at fixed length sampling intervals for purposes of detecting changes in the peocess that may affect the quality of the output. Variable sampling interval (VSI) control charts vary the sampling interval as a function of what is observed from the process and can detect process changes faster than FSI control charts. Evaluation of properties of VSI control charts requires extensions of methods that have been developed for FSI control Control charts. A unified treatment of two widely used methods, the Markov chain method and the integral equation method. is given for VSI control charts. This unified treatment includes some results which are new in the FSI case. The new methods are used for the numerical evaluation of propertics of exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) and cumulative sum (CUSUM) control charts. Some general optimality results for the choice fo the sampling intervals are also given.
