摘要:
SummaryThe roentgen features of nasopharyngeal angio‐fibromas, malignant tumours and antro‐choanal polypi are described. Techniques employed are lateral skiagram of nasopharynx, submentovertical view, Water's projection and contrast naso‐pharyngography. The value of Water's view to show lateral displacement of the coronoid process and the submento‐vertical view to show widening of infratemporal fossa and inferior orbital fissure as signs of extra‐pharyngeal extension of angiofibromas are discussed.A case of cylindroma is reported. Contrast nasopharyngography is advocated in cases with unexplained otologic symptoms and cranial nerve palsies.Contrast nasopharyngography provides a permanent record of tumour regarding size and position before and after treatment. This procedure done post‐operatively documents the extra‐pharyngeal extensions of

摘要:
SummaryAxial transverse tomograms of maxillary cancers are discussed for their significance in the diagnosis. In comparison with other techniques of radiography, axial transverse tomography is especially useful for detecting lesions of the anterior wall and posterior wall of the sinus maxillaris, fossa infratemporalis, processus pterygoideus, sinus ethmoidalis posterior and sinus sphenoidalis. This fact is detailed by the actual cases. It is advocated that maxillary cancers will be classified into 4 types, according to the findings of the axial transverse tomogram. There are a few interrelationships between the classification by conventional tomography and that by the axial transverse tomography. In order to realize the extent of maxillary cancers as accurately as possible, it would be necessary to obtain the findings of both the axial transverse tomograms and the conventional tomograms.

摘要:
SummaryA method for palatography has been described for patients to be helped by the Plastic Surgeons and the Speech Therapists. Information about the anatomical and physiological conditions of the soft palate is given. The examination was done on 50 patients to study velo‐pharyngeal closure in adults and in children, during normal position, in various types of phonations and while blowing. The examination is a simple one, without requiring any special equipment or special techniques; it is helpful in the diagnosis and management of cleft palate abnormalities. It is specially recommended in cases where surgery is contemplated or speech therapy is in progress. The following are the conclusions from this Preliminary Report.1The soft palate exhibits an oscillary movement during velo‐pharyngeal closure, and does not remain continuously in contact with the pharyngeal wall.2With different sounds, the degree of elevation of the soft palate is different.3There is no relation between the length of the soft palate and pharyngeal depth.4During phonation, the elevation of the soft palate varies inversely with its length; it is also related to the age.5The posterior pharyngeal ridge is a compensatory response, found in individuals with cleft palate, helping in velopharyngeal clos

摘要:
SummarySeven cases of the anomalous inferior vena cava diagnosed during cardiac catheterization are described. Right heart catheterization through the saphenous vein routinely and the importance of detecting this condition before surgery is discussed. When this anomaly is diagnosed at catheterization via the saphenous vein care should be taken not to catheterize the main pulmonary artery, specially the right branch. Two simple findings on the chest X‐ray which gives a strong indication to the presence of this anomaly is mentione

摘要:
Summary1The principal angiographic features of major chronic renal diseases are discussed, based on the review of the author's 123 cases and the consideration of the angiographic features of other renal diseases.2An angiographic categorization is attempted, and chronic renal diseases are classified into three categories. Examples of each of these categories are presented with brief comments.3The role of the two major radiodiagnostic means–urography and angiography–in chronic renal disease is discus
