This article discusses two significant challenges that AWWA faces in 1965‐67. The first is becoming known as the spokesman for the water utility industry. The second challenge involves changes within AWWA to aid in coordinating the future program of AWWA. The changes are related to new concepts in staff and committee functions to accommodate new and existing programs.

This article provides an analysis of the future water demand of the Tuy Valleys in Venezuela. The article begins with a discussion of the geography of the area, followed by population patterns, Caracas and its zone of influence, and water demand projections for the area. The article concludes that the Tuy Basin would grow economically if its water resources were integrally developed.

This article discusses the three requirements of meter sizing: it must produce estimates greater than average for all fixtures on the system during periods of heaviest demand; the method must yield reasonably accurate estimates of peak demand so as to avoid oversizing of piping; and, it must be adaptable for estimating the demand of groups of like fixtures as well as any number of different kinds. The criteria used by the author to examine the problem is listed, along with factors to consider when computing loss of pressure or head loss, and the experiences of four major city water utilities.
