摘要:
AWWA has many objectives. One is to educate the industry, concerned public officials, and the public in general. Another is to act as a two‐way information conduit and clearing house between the regulators and the regulated. AWWA has the talent and adaptability needed to contend with its objectives in situations that demand responsiveness with responsibility.

摘要:
During the past few years, inflation has required water Utilities to modify their budgetary practices. It is now more important than ever to use all facets of input in preparing the budget. Information on past programs, present practices, and new changes within the Utility as well as overall economic conditions in society is necessary to the development of a budget that will meet the full requirements of the Utility with the establishment of clear priorities.

摘要:
During the past several years, a growing number of ideas for establishing utility rates have been suggested. While some have merit, the traditional tenet of basing rates on actual cost is still the most valid approach. Pricing variations are measured against the outlined components of rate‐making, revenue requirements, cost of service, and rate design.

摘要:
The relationship between water price and the factors which influence it is examined, as well as the elasticity of consumer demand. Regression techniques are utilized to perform a cross‐section analysis, based on data collected as part of EPA's Community Water Supply Survey.

摘要:
A well‐designed program of preventive maintenance is important in the efficient functioning of a water Utility. Principles and techniques for such a program are outlined with an emphasis on the cost savings of a corrosion‐control program. The method used by one Utility for determining cost‐benefit ratios is discussed.

摘要:
Studies of the water System of Faro, Yukon Territory, have revealed a form of corrosion that is unusual and possibly unique. The combination of discontinuous permafrost in a semi‐arid area leading to uncertain electrical grounds, together with a conductive water supply and the superimposition of radio‐frequency currents on the metallic portions of the distribution System—particularly copper tubing—jointly contributes to the corrosion problem.
