SummaryWe report the case of a 48 year old man who developed hypertrichosis lanuginosa acquisita in association with adenocarcinoma of the colon. All laboratory investigations were normal. We present a literature review of this rare but important paraneoplastic sign which is most commonly associated with malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract.

SummaryThe following paper describes a case of silent renal tumour, presenting with a cutaneous metastasis which had the appearance of an inflammatory lesion. Biopsy of the lesion did not provide a definitive diagnosis. Although disseminated malignancy was known to be present in this patient, the actual primary site of tumour was only found at postmortem.

SummaryA case of systemic cryptococcal infection which presented with cutaneous lesions including facial papules and vesicles was initially diagnosed as varicella. The diverse cutaneous manifestations of cryptococcosis are discussed and the need for precise microbiological diagnosis of skin lesions in immunosuppressed patients is highlighted.

SummaryA 49 year old Indian female with the clinical and histological features of a psoriasiform eruption due to glibenclamide, an oral hypoglycaemic agent, is described. The eruption resembled that caused by some beta blockers. The condition did not improve with topical tar treatment but cleared within six weeks after withdrawal of glibenclamide. Cutaneous reactions to glibenclamide are uncommon and there has been no previous report of a psoriasiform eruption due to this drug.
