AbstractIn einem Gefäßversuch mit 3jährigen Fichten und Kiefern führte die Faulschlammeinmischung (4 % TS) in einem Sandboden zu vermindertem Wuchs und verminderter Substanzproduktion. Erhöht wurden in den neugebildeten Nadeln die Gehalte an N, Ca, Mg, Zn, bei hoher Schlammgabe auch an P, während die Manganwerte abnahmen, bei der Fichte auch die K‐Gehalte. Im Stoffwechsel war deutlich eine verstärkte N‐Deponie in Form von Arginin meßbar. Die Produktion von organischen Säuren und in weiterer Folge die Biosynthese von Polyhydroxyphenolen wurde gebremst. Letale Wirkungen waren hieraus nicht abzulesen. Sie sind eher im Wasserhaushalt der Pflanzen, d. h. in Ionenwirkungen zu suchen. Hierfür spricht die auffallend starke Verengung des K/Ca‐Verhältnisses bei sehr hohen Ca‐und niedrigen K‐Gehalten sowie die Anreicherung von Prolin. Die Fichte reagierte auf die vermehrt angebotenen Nährelemente mit stärkerer Aufnahme als die Kiefer. Die Kiefer andererseits vertrug die Schlammzufuhr schlechter, so daß auch bei geringerer Klärschlammgabe

AbstractIn einem dreijährigem Feldversuch wurde der Einfluß der Stickstoffmenge und ‐form auf das Wachstum von Lagerkohl, einige Inhaltsstoffe und auf das Auftreten von Blattpunktnekrosen untersucht. Ammoniumsulfat förderte im Vergleich zu Natriumnitrat das Auftreten der Blattpunktnekrosen, die Verfügbarkeit von K, Ca und Mg im Boden und damit den Gehalt dieser Kationen in der Pflanze. Verstärktes Auftreten von Blattpunktnekrosen war‐entgegen den meisten bisher veröffentlichten Untersuchungen‐mit einem zunehmenden K‐und Ca‐Gehalt in Kohl assoziiert. Die Übertragbarkeit von Resultaten aus Versuchen mit Nährlösungen auf Feldbedingungen wird diskutiert. Abstract1. In Sandkulturversuchen mit Mais und Sonnenblumen unterschiedlicher Chloroseanfälligkeit wurde der Einfluß von Fe‐und Mn‐Mangel auf den Gehalt an anorganischen Ionen und organischen Säuren (OS) untersucht.2. Fe‐Mangel führte sowohl bei Mais als auch bei Sonnenblumen zu höheren Werten für die Kationenüberschüsse und die Gehalte an organischen Säuren, wobei die Reaktion der Sonnenblumen unter Fe‐Mangel schwächer war als in früheren Versuchen mit jüngeren Pflanzen.3. Mn‐Mangel hatte keine so eindeutige Reaktion beider Pflanzenarten zur Folge wie Fe‐Mangel, obwohl auch hier die Pflanzen der späten Ernten höhere Werte für C‐A und Σ OS aufwiesen.4. Die chloroseanfälligen Sorten beider Pflanzenarten unterschieden sich nicht in ihrer Reaktion auf Fe‐bzw. Mn‐Mangel von den Normalsorten.5. Eine spezifische Reaktion der Pflanzen auf Fe‐oder Mn‐Mangel konnte in bezug auf

AbstractDer notwendige Zn‐Bedarf von Hafer und Weizen wird in Wasserkulturversuchen ermittelt. Die Zn‐Gehalte der Sprosse bei Schoßbeginn korrelieren gut mit den Kornerträgen (r2etwa 80 %) und sind damit ein geeignetes Maß zur Kennzeichnung der Zn‐Versorgung. Der für den Höchstertrag erforderliche Zn‐Gehalt (Ertragsgrenzwert) beträgt bei Schoßbeginn 25 ppm in der Trockensubstanz. Aus einer Feld‐Erhebungsuntersuchung (290 Standorte aus Schleswig‐Holstein) wird ein notwendiger Zn‐Gehalt in gleicher Höhe abgeleitet. Durch die Steigerung der Gehalte anderer Nährelemente kann kein nennenswerter Einfluß auf den Zn‐Ertragsgren

AbstractDie Umsetzung von Cyanamid‐, Harnstoff‐und Ammonsulfatlösungen bis zum Nitrat wurde in einem sandigen schluffigen Lehm (pH 6.2) in Abhängigkeit von Temperatur und Bodenfeuchtigkeit untersucht.1. Cyanamid wurde innerhalb von 1–5 Tagen zu Harnstoff abgebaut. Steigende Temperaturen (2°–100°C) erhöhten, höhere Bodenfeuchtigkeit (120 % d.v.WK) verlangsamte die Umsetzung.2. Die Hydrolyse von Harnstoff zu Ammoniak erfolgte noch bei 2°C innerhalb von 10 Tagen, unabhängig davon, ob Cyanamid oder Harnstoff vorgelegt worden war. Geringe Bodenfeuchtigkeit (40 % d.v.WK) und höhere Temperaturen (bis 70°C) beschleunigten den Abbau.3. Nach Harnstoffvorlage (20 mg N) wurde vorübergehend bis zu 5 mal soviel Nitrit (0.5 mg NO2‐N) gebildet wie nach Cyanamid‐bzw. Ammonsulfatvorgabe.4. Im Hinblick auf die Nitrifikationsgeschwindigkeit ergaben sich deutliche Unterschiede: Harnstoff>Cyanamid und Ammonsulfat. Die Nitratbildung begann bei 2°C, das Optimum liegt zwischen 20° und 30°C. Unter den Bedingungen eines Wasserüberstaues (120 % d.v.WK) wurde bei niedrigen Temperaturen schwach nitrifiziert, bei höheren Tempe

AbstractIn the course of investigations on the impact of salinity on mineral ion transport in differentially salt susceptible soybeans (“Lee” and “Jackson”) short‐term experiments were conducted to elucidate the distribution pattern of Na+and some other cations. The results showed that low salinity (7.5 mM NaCl) did not induce varietal differences in Na+content during a 30 hrs uptake period. At 66.5 mM NaCl, however, the Na+contents increased more in the leaves of the salt sensitive variety “Jackson” than in “Lee”. Both soybean varieties retained Na+in the proximal root and stem. Furthermore, they extruded considerable amounts of Na+from the roots to the medium.Increasing the level of salinity in the solution substantially reduced the Ca2+uptake of both soybean varieties. In an experiment with the salt sensitive variety under constant salinity but increasing Ca2+concentration in the medium, the plants showed a reduction in Na+uptake and translocation to stem and leaves and an enhanced Ca2+uptake and translocation to the shoots.It is suggested that the injury observed in “Jackson” after salt treatment is not only related to the insufficient control of Cl−transport. AbstractThe application of paddy straw to soil improved the yield of soybeans significantly in a light‐textured red sandy loam soil with a pH of 5.6. AbstractFifty‐five soil samples representing Egyptian alluvial and lacustrine soils were chemically analyzed for total Se which was found to vary from 0.18 to 0.85 ppm with an average of 0.45 ppm. These levels are positively correlated with organic matter, total carbonate and clay content of the soils. Minimum variation of total Se with soil depth was found.The chemical fractionation of soil Se, expressed as percent of the total, indicates that on the average about 25.4 % exists in 0.2 M K2SO4‐extractable form, 18.5 % is extracted with 0.5 N NH4OH, 9.7 % as 6 N HCl‐extractable form and 13.8 % as extractable with 9 N HNO3. Amounts of K2SO4‐Se and HNO3‐Se in soils correlated significantly with soil organic matter, total carbonate, free iron oxide and clay content. The NH4OH‐Se and HCl‐Se fractions correlated significantly only with organic matter and clay content. There is also significant correlation between total Se and the studied Se fractions.Specific adsorption of Se by soils was low as expressed by the Langmiur adsorption maximum values. AbstractA computer solution to the one‐dimensional soil moisture flow equation was used to show how changes in the wet end of the Ψ‐θ‐K relations affect infiltration and the conductivity‐gradient interactions between a crust and the underlying A‐horizon of a hypothetic loess soil. Variations in the θ(Ψ) and K(Ψ) relations between 0 and 10 cm water tension caused three‐fold differences in simulated steady‐state infiltration rates.A crust having many pores that drain at low tensions (i. e., big pores) limited infiltration more than did a crust with the same saturated conductivity, but having few easily drainable pores. With either crust, the infiltration rate was higher when the hydraulic conductivity of the underlying A‐horizon was greater over the low suction range.Both crusts limited infiltration more when the underlying A‐horizon contained many easily drainable pores than when the A‐horizon had only few big pores. Therefore, the wet end of the Ψ‐θ‐K relation of a tilled surface layer has an important effect upon infiltration, even when overlain by a dense surface crust.The calculations emphasize that estimates of infiltration and runoff are very sensitive to variations in the hydraulic input functions in the low tension range where precise measurements are very difficult.
