摘要:
AbstractA rather general class of neural networks, called generalized cellular neural networks (CNNs), is introduced. the new model covers most of the known neural network architectures, including cellular neural networks, Hopfield networks and multilayer perceptrons. Several sets of conditions ensuring the input‐output stability and global asymptotic stability of generalized CNNs have been obtained. the conditions for the stability of individual cells are checked in the frequency domain, while the stability of the overall network is analysed in terms of the stability of individual cells and the connectivity characteristics. the results on the global asymptotic stability are useful for the design of a generalized CNN such that the orbit of each state converges to a globally asymptotically stable equilibrium point which depends only on the input and not on the initial state. Such a network defines an algebraic map from the space of external inputs to the space of steady state values of the outputs and hence can accomplish cognitive and computational task

AbstractThe analysis of the equivalent circuit of power converters presents unique difficulties due to the continuously changing conduction state of power semiconductor switches which introduce open‐ and short‐circuit branches. Presently available methods mainly aim at automatically assembling the loop impedance matrix describing any particular conduction pattern. In this paper a novel powerful method is developed for automatically treating this varying topology circuit analysis problem by direct modification of the corresponding loop admittance matrix. In this way the inversion of any matrix is avoided. In particular, the loop admittance matrix (the solution matrix) for an existing conducting state of the switching elements is constructed by modifying the associated matrix corresponding to the previous conduction pattern. AbstractOversampled sigma‐delta analogue‐to‐digital conversion has been the focus of much research attention in recent years. Converters based on this principle have been found to be particularly suited to integrated circuit implementation owing to their simple structure and robustness to circuit imperfection. the analysis of the sigma‐delta system is complicated by the presence of a discontinuous non‐linear element, with the result that until very recently few rigorous studies of such converters had appeared in the literature.In this paper we study the operation of the single‐loop sigma‐delta modulator, consisting of a quantizer and a discrete‐time integrator in a feedback loop, with constant input. Our analysis uses the tools of non‐linear dynamics to derive rigorous descriptions of system behaviour. In particular we focus on the effects of the discontinuous nonlinear element‐the quantizer. In the most basic case the quantizer has two levels. We study the effect of quantizer offsets in conjunction with leaky integration on the behaviour of this system. 摘要:
AbstractAn approximation method for calculating the periodic oscillations of nearly sinusoidal oscillators is presented which is based upon the classical pertubation method. Both the frequency and the amplitude of the harmonics of the oscillation are calculated to a first approximation by very simple relations which are useful for deriving a design criterion.To demonstrate the possibilities of the proposed method, some illustrative examples are provided.
