摘要:
The little‐known hydroidLaomedea exiguaM. Sars, 1857, is recorded for the first time from Scandinavian waters. The species is redescribed and the life cycle, lacking a medusa stage, is confirmed by rearing. The nematocysts are diagnostic of the species. Tentacles and hypostome co‐operate in capturing p

摘要:
The epidermis ofXenoturbella bockiWestblad was studied by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Two cell types predominate in the epidermis: multiciliated epidermal cells and non‐ciliated or monociliated gland cells. A conspicuous feature is the dense ciliary coverage and the numerous gland cell openings.Xenoturbellahas a characteristic pattern of axonemal filament termination in the distal tips of their cilia. Each epidermal cilium has the typical 9 + 2 patten through the major part of its shaft. Near the tip there is a shelf at which doublets 4–7 terminate. Doublets 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9 continue into the thinner distal part of the cilium. A similar shelf in cilia is known only from the turbellarian orders Nemertodermatida and Acoela, and hence may be an apomorphic feature which indicates a close relationship between Xenoturbellida, Nemertoder‐matida and Acoela. The basal body is provided with a so‐called basal foot which has a cross‐striated appearance and an expanded distal plate that seems to act as a microtubule organizing center. Approximately 15–25 microtubuli radiate from the endplate of the basal foot to the basal bodies caudally. The arrangement of basal foot and ciliary rootlets inXenoturbelladiffers from that of Acoela and related orders in that there are two striated rootlets only (an anterior and a posterior one), rather than one main rootlet and two later

摘要:
The otariid seal parasiteContracaecum ogmorhiniJohnston&Mawson, 1941 is redescribed based upon new material and the type specimens. The geographical records of this species indicate that it has an antiboreal circumpolar distribution with an isolated population on the south‐west coast of North America. The species is considered to be morphologically more similar toContracaecumspp. from birds than to those from phocid seals: its possible evolution is commented upon. The material identified asC. osculatum(Rudolphi) by Flores‐Barroetaet al. is considered conspecific withC. ogmorhini, thus suggesting that it is this species, and not C.osculatum, which is responsible for abnormal tissue migration and brain damage in pinnip

摘要:
Petrocha notogaearepresents a new interstitial dorvilleid genus from subtidal medium coarse sands. With its distinctly neotenic characters, such as one pair of short palps, ciliary rings on all parts of the body, setigers with uniramous parapodia, simple capillaries, simple heterogomph falcigers and comparatively small size (1.2–1.4 mm), it shows close phylogenetic affinity to several other taxa of the Dorvilleidae, such asIkosipodus, Microdorvillea, ArenotrochaandPusillotrocha, which have only been described in the last four year

摘要:
The holotype ofLumbrineris algida(Wirén, 1901) has been examined and a new description made. A special type of twisted, pseudocompound hooded hook, previously undescribed, was studied by scanning electron microscopy. Mouthparts are missing. Seventeen additional specimens from eight different localities in Arctic waters were studied and compared with the holotype. These are all provided with the same kind of aberrant setae. Mouthparts show, however, thatL. algidabelongs to the genusAugeneriaMonro, 1930. All stations had negative bottom temperatures. A possible connection between low water temperature and the development of setae is discussed

摘要:
Euritmia hamulisetosagen. et sp. n. is characterized by many rows of sessile macrotubercles without terminal papillae; all anterior appendages are short and setae simple. Three others species of Sphaerodoridae collected from the Gibraltar Strait region areEphesiella abyssorum, Sphaerodoridium claparedeiiandSphaerodoropsis minutum. Sphaerodoropsis capense(Day, 1963) is transferred to the new genusEuritmia.

摘要:
A collection of thambematids (Crustacea, Isopoda, Asellota) from depths of 1400–2900 m in the Rockall Trough, west of the British Isles, is considered. The type species of the genusThambemaStebbing,T. amicorumStebbing, is rediagnosed and three new species,T. golanachum, T. tanum, andT. fiatum, are described. The generaThambemaandMicrothambemaBirstein are contrasted and taxonomic characters separating these genera are provided. The difficulty of providing effective definitions for higher category taxa is discussed and a new definition is provided for the Asellot

Vaepellisgen.n. (type species:V. varicasp.n.) from Ghana is described and illustrated. On the basis of the numerous unique apomorphies displayed byVaepellis, including a comparatively long, clubbed scapus, a densely short‐setose body, very short palps and hind tibial spurs, very small eyes and ocelli and massive legs, this genus is placed in a new subfamily separated from its sister group the Braconina

Paxillibracon inornatussp.n. from Tanzania is described, illustrated and distinguished fromPaxillibracon tessmanni(Szépligeti), the only other known species of the genus. The scapus, antennal sockets, features of the venation and metasomal sculpture of P.inornatussp.n. reinforce the earlier interpretation thatPaxillibraconis derived from close to the base of theAtanycolusFoerster group of genera
