摘要:
AbstractThe mass spectrometric identification of unsaturated mono‐ and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons during the GC–MS analysis of essential oils is often difficult owing to lack of characteristic fragmentation patterns and because of isomerization and molecular rearrangements. Reaction of mono‐ and sesquiterpenes containing one or two non‐conjugated double bonds with trioxo(tert‐butylimido)osmium(VIII) gives vicinal monoamino alcohols, bisamino alcohols and aminotriols after reduction of the intermediate osmate ester amides. These derivatives show characteristic mass spectra which can be used as a ‘fingerprint’ for the identification of the respective parent compound. Moreover, it seems possible to derive some key fragments from the mass spectra, which can indicate the presence of certain types of alkenoic unsaturation in the hydrocarbon. This is true for vicinal disubstituted exocyclic double bonds, isopropenyl double bonds and methylsubstituted endocyclic

摘要:
AbstractExtracts from ten species of apple flowers harvested at Aomori Experiment Station have been investigated by GC. No significant differences in chemical composition were observed in the volatile components of the ten species. The extract of ‘Redgold’ flowers, which is one of apple cultivars, was fractionated by column chromatography and analysed with GC and GC–MS. Seventy‐seven compounds were identified andcis‐hex‐3‐en‐1‐ol, benzyl alcohol, 2‐phenylethyl alcohol, cinnamyl alcohol, nonanal, octanol and indole were found to make a major contribution to the odo

摘要:
AbstractThe analysis by capillary GC and GC–MS of the volatile oil ofCalamintha nepeta(L.) Savi subsp.glandulosa(Req.) P.W. Ball, endemic to Greece, showed the presence of at least 46 components, of which 31 were identified, corresponding to 98% of the total. The major components were found to be the two diastereoisomers of piperitone oxide (55%) and β‐bisabolene (8

摘要:
AbstractThe volatile constituents of babaco fruit (Carica pentagonaHeilborn) were investigated. Two different methods of isolation of the volatiles were employed: (a) reduced pressure steam distillation followed by dichloromethane extraction: (b) direct extraction of filtered babaco pulp with diethyl ether. HPLC fractionation of the extracts was carried out. The extracts were analysed by dual capillary gas chromatography and combined capillary GC‐MS. The identified volatiles included 9 hydrocarbons, 20 alcohols, 9 carbonyls, 9 acids, 60 esters, 3 lactones, 2 sulphur and 7 miscellaneous components. Quantitative analysis of the major components (butan‐1‐ol and hexan‐1‐ol) showed similar results for the two isolation methods. Combined GC‐sensory analysis was carried out: of the 21 main odours detected, 18 were tentatively assessed by linear retention index comparison with authentic chemical standards. The aroma of babaco appears to be due to the collective effect of a number of

摘要:
AbstractThe volatile components in the peel oil from Japanese fingered citron (Citrus medicaL. var.sarcodactylisSwingle) were analysed by GC–MS for the first time. The main components were limonene (47.8%), γ‐terpinene (32.1%), α‐pinene (2.9%), α‐pinene (2.7%), geranial (2.5%), myrcene (1.7%), neral (1.6%), terpinolene (1.4%) and γ‐thujene (1.33%). The peel oil was characterized by the smaller content of limonene and the larger content of β‐terpinene, geranial and neral. β‐Ionone, one of the aroma volatile components, was responsible for the characteristic osmanthus‐like odour of the fruit. A crystalline substance which separated from the peel oil was identified as 5,7‐dimethoxycoumarin (limettin) on the bas

AbstractA detailed analysis of cajuput essential oil—an industrial product from Vietnam—has been carried out by combining column chromatography, gas chromatography, GC–MS, IR and NMR spectroscopy. It contains 61 components of which 48 have been identified. The taxonomy of the material used was discussed and the antibacterial properties of the essential oil are ment

摘要:
AbstractEssential oils fromSchinus molleL. berries and leaves were analysed by means of GC–MS. Berry oil contained mainly α‐ and β‐phellandrene (55.4% and 15.4% respectively) along with limonene (14.3%). Leaf oil which also contained α‐ and β‐phellandrene and limonene (30.2%, 9.6% and 9.3% respectively), was characterizied by the presence of sesquiterpenes such as elemol (13.3%), germacrene‐D (5.2%), γ‐eudesmol (3.2%) andT‐cadinol (4.7%), which were present only in traces in the

摘要:
AbstractThe deterpenation of orange and lemon oils has been studied by preparative adsorption chromatography using silica gel in glass columns of 43 cm length and diameters of 2.5, 5.1 and 9.0 cm.The terpene hydrocarbons were eluted withn‐hexane/ethyl acetate 25:1 and the oxygenated compounds were eluted subsequently with ethyl acetate. The eluted fractions were collected and analysed by gas chromatography. The influence of column diameter and product feed rate on the degree of deterpenation has been studied. An empirical equation which relates the degree of deterpenation to the recovery of enriched oil and the product feed rate has been derived. This relationship can be used to predict the performance of any given system based on silica gel adsorption chromatograph
