摘要:
In the early history of psychiatry, psychotherapy consisted mostly of support and care based on a commonsense concept of the patient's illness. In Norway, Ragnar Vogt became the first professor of psychiatry in 1915, influencing a whole generation of psychiatrists in their views on psychotherapy through his lectures and extensive writings. Freud recognized that Vogt was the first to mention psychoanalysis in a psychiatric textbook. Vogt's view of psychoanalysis remained ambivalent, although he recognized Freud's original contributions in describing repressions and teasing out the method of removing these through experiencing the transference. There was heated debate on psychoanalysis in the period 1920-40, partly because of“wild analysts”and Reich's presence in the country, but mostly because Freud's theories instigated a quest for revision of established ways of thinking in several areas of the culture. This led to a law of authorization debate for psychoanalysts in 1938.Authorization, History, Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy.

摘要:
In the psychiatric hospital, 40 years ago, each doctor had the responsibility for about 100 patients. There was no formal or systematic teaching in psychiatry after medical school, and what residents learned was dependent upon their superiors and their own initiative and interests. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis were looked upon with suspicion by the older generation of psychiatrists. Gordon Johnsen wrote to the board of the Psychiatric Association and suggested that a section for psychotherapy should be formed. The proposal was initially laid aside, but in 1956 the board presented a proposal to elect a committee on psychotherapy to the annual meeting. The first elected committee comprised Herluf Thomstad (chairman), Nils H. Houge (treasurer) and Gordon Johnson (secretary). The primary task of the committee was to encourage interest in psychotherapy among the members by keeping them informed about seminars, by arranging seminars and lectures and by developing Scandinavian and European connections. As early as in 1956/57 psychotherapy and even psychoanalysis, was on its way out of its shadowy existence in the Psychaitric Association, as indicated by the fast-growing psychotherapeutic activity.Norwegian Psychiatric Association, psychotherapy committee, seminars.

摘要:
In the 1950s there was a lack of possibilities for training in individual, psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy in Norway. In 1962, the author and a psychiatrist, Endre Ugelstad, who had cooperated for many years, started a training institute in an old flat in Oslo. Later, Per Mentzsen was included as administrator and teacher. The author describes the initial pioneer spirit, the inspiration given by influential American psychoanalysts and later the recognition by the Directorate of Health which led to financial support.Psychotherapy Training.

摘要:
The primary goal of the Institute of Psychotherapy was to develop training in clinically oriented psychoanalytical psychotherapy that could be applied in both psychiatric institutions and private practice. Psychiatrists and clinical psychologists were to be accepted on equal terms, and the basic course should be offered to candidates from the whole country. The author describes the courses and the growth of acitivity in the first 10 years.Psychotherapy, Seminars, Training.

摘要:
When the Norwegian Psychoanalytic Institute was started in 1967, there were eleven certified psychoanalysts in the country, only three of whom practised full time. Four out of six training analysts received candidates. Candidates and psychoanalysts worked enthusiastically side-by-side establishing the new organization, and after five years the number of candidates had risen to 45. In 1968, a survey was carried out among all Norwegian psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers about the value of psychotherapy as part of their training. Only 50% responded, but with a much higher response rate among the younger professionals. Most psychiatrists believed that this would be a valuable experience and 2% considered it unnecessary or even unwanted. Fifty percent of the psychiatrists believed that psychotherapy should be a requirement within special areas of work. An interesting finding was that although 75% maintained that psychotherapy would result in higher clinical skills and personal satisfaction in the job, less than 50% thought that it would increase professional prestige. The author raises the question whether a training analysis contains possibilities for didactic learning which are neglected today.Psychoanalysis, Training, Training Analysis.

摘要:
In 1964 the Norwegian Medical Association adopted new rules for the education and certification of specialists. Consequently, the Psychiatric Association appointed a committee to give a recommendation about the specialization in psychiatry. The proposition from the committee was adopted by the Association in 1967. A central part of the recommendation concerned the education in psychotherapy. The best qualified departments were obliged to offer candidates such education, the most important part of which was to be regular supervision by a qualified psychotherapist. Institutions applying for certification on the highest level had to be able to meet this demand. This decision had a profound effect on development in Norwegian psychiatry. The psychotherapeutic point of view held a much stronger position, and general psychiatry received a more humane and open attitude. But the consequences for scientific psychiatric research were clearly negative for nearly two decades, and special efforts had to be made by the Norwegian Research Council to correct this imbalance. The Psychotherapy Committee has a powerful position, playing a major role in defining the qualifications of psychotherapy supervisors and counselling the Medical Association about certification. The Committee must always keep an open eye on the existing definitions and rules. All basic dogmas must be regularly reviewed. Even the necessity of a personal analysis as an absolute prerequisite for certification of a supervisor should be made the object of scrutiny.Psychotherapy Supervisor!, Speciality Qualifications.

摘要:
This is a short version of the recommendations given on 24 September 1968 by the Psychotherapy Committee on the education of psychotherapy supervisors in Norway:1. Speciality in psychiatry. Scarcity of psychiatrists who had training in psychotherapy was the main reason for the recommendation to use well-trained and experienced psychologists as supervisors to begin with.2. Some general recommendations about the theoretical curriculum were given, but implicitly handed over to be worked out by the two institutes (of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis).3. The individual supervision was seen as a very important part of the training, as a tool for developing a psychotherapeutic attitude, an understanding of the doctor-patient relationship (transference-countertransference) and of psychodynamics. The recommendations were at least 100 hours with two different supervisors and the long-term treatment of two different patients.4. The learning therapy (analysis) was recommended as a tool to accomplish self-knowledge, to help solve neurotic conflicts, to have an emotional learning experience of important factors in the psychotherapeutic process, and as a deep human experience. The initial recommendation was a minimum 200 hours, but the demands should be increased in the future.Psychotherapy Training, Supervision, Training of Residents.
