摘要:
The1H and13C n.m.r analysis of the sediments derived from visbroken short residues (150°C+) obtained at different severity levels is reported. The nature of sediments and structural changes during visbreaking and on storage at ambient conditions are related to the processing characteristics of the residual fuel oils. The possible relationship between storage stability and processing conditions is also discussed.

摘要:
A great deal of effort has been directed towards the development of economically and technically feasible processes for the chemical extraction of P2O5from basic slags, which is a by-product in the manufacture of steel. Disposal of basic slag is a problem in industrial cities throughout the world. The chemical composition shows that basic slag contains many essential ingredients for plants growth. Its use as a fertilizer has, therefore, been suggested by scientists and agriculturists. But the negligible solubility of the phosphatic content of basic slag in water makes it practically ineffective as a fertilizer.

A computational study with a developed general computer program for the determination of equilibrium temperature and presure for constant volume combustion for any hydrocarbon-air mixture in presence of diluent is presented with particular reference to methane-air mixture at prescribed initial conditions. Several observations are noted and explained and some computational values are compared with experimental values.

摘要:
A number of methods have been developed which are used to remove the sulphur present in coal before combustion. The physical removal of pyritic sulphur by coal cleaning has been commercial practice for a number of years, but these methods do not remove organically bound sulphur, they can be applied effectively only to a limited number of coals. However, the removal of both pyritic and organically bound sulphur from coal can be effectively achieved by applying the chemical desulphurization methods. This paper gives a general review on the chemical desulphurization studies, including carbonization in different atmospheres, air oxidation, wet oxidation, Meyers Process, chlorination and extraction with the solutions of NaOH, CuCl2and C2H5OH, which were carried out using different Turkish lignites.

摘要:
The physico-chemical properties of asphaltenes separated from the North Gujarat visbroken short residues (150°C+) obtained at different severity levels are reported. The experimental data generated on the effect of different n-alkanes (as diluent) used for asphaltenes precipitation, the average particle size of asphaltenes, the sediment formation on storage, are used to establish a possible relationship between particle size distribution i.e the agglomeration and the storage stability. The effect of visbreaking severities as crucial parameter on asphaltene agglomeration is also discussed.

摘要:
The colloidal properties of carbon black feedstock from different origins (petroleum and coal) which may directly influence the carbon black quality have been investigated. The effect of feedstock asphaltenes on their colloidal stability on processing (storage, transportation and treatment) is summarized. A possible relationship between incompatibility of feedstock and structure-mechanical resistance is defined using a stability factor as a consolidated measure of capacity of dispersive system. The physical and mechanical effects are found to be pronounced at a particular phase change temperature state and leads to deformation of the structural system. A correlation between viscous flow activation energy and the stability factor is established and the colloidal stability of the system is defined.

摘要:
The products obtained from gasification of Saskatchewan lignite have been identified quantitatively and the amount of energy that would be produced from their combustion has been calculated. The amount of carbon dioxide produced during combustion has also been calculated. On the basis of these results the gasification of one tonne of lignite would produce approximately 2·2 × 105cubic meters of gaseous products (at STP) which when burned would release 2·3 × 106kcal (9.6 × 106kJ) of energy and produce about 0·75 tonne of carbon dioxide.

摘要:
Reactions that lead to fuel instability can be closely linked to the presence of active oxygen species. An increasing body of evidence links oxidation reactions of hydroperoxides to the instability observed in fuels. The active oxygen compounds present in fuels are alkyl and aromatic hydroperoxides. Cumene hydroperoxide represents a logical choice for an active oxygen compound that could be present in a middle distillate fuel. This paper reports on the reactions of cumene hydroperoxide with octanal in benzene solvent at 140°C for various time periods. The complete slate of products is presented along with a suggested mechanism to explain the observed products and the implications for fuel instability reactions.
