Twenty species are listed from collections made largely in more offshore waters than earlier surveys. Seven species are recorded for the first time from South Africa, comprising four Sipuncula, two Echiura and one Priapulida.

The comb-like cleaning organ on the movable digit of the chelicera in the short-tailed whip-scorpions (Schizomida) is compared with that found in Pseudoscorpions and the Amblypygi. It does not occur on the chelicera of the long tailed whip-scorpions (Uropygi).

Ostracoda from the Neocomian strata of the Uitenhage Basin are described for the first time. The faunas from samples taken at three sections in the Sundays River Formation of the Uitenhage Group are involved. One new genus, one new subgenus and eight new species are erected, and evidence for the age of the series is discussed.

Specimens from South Africa belonging to the archiannelid genusSaccocirrusare described. An account is given of their habits and habitat, their external and internal anatomy, with special reference to the arrangement of the male and female organs. The problem of internal fertilization is discussed, and the maturation of the trochophore larva within the female body is described. Observations were made on larval dissemination by fragmentation during the breeding phase. Keys to the familyPolygordiidaeand the genusSaccocirrusare included. The specimens are assigned to a new species:Saccocirrus burchellinov. sp. A description of the holotype and a diagnosis of the species are included.

Copper deficient and normal wheat var. Kenya was grown in the field and in sand culture. An anatomical investigation of the stem was undertaken and the third internode was studied in detail. The thickness of the epidermal cell wall, the width of the epidermal cell, the thickening of the hypodermal cell walls, the width of the hypodermal layer, the area of the epidermis and hypodermis, the area of lignified hypodermis and the area of unlignified hypodermis were measured in populations of controls and copper deficient plants and were then analysed statistically. The characteristics of the vascular bundles could not be analysed due to their great variability.
