SummarySerum immunoglobulin levels A, G, M, D have been studied in 902 patients suffering from allergic or non‐allergic asthma, rhinitis and cough or various combinations of these disorders. In addition, a control group of asymptomatic persons was included. Serum IgA and IgD levels were significantly lower in both the allergic and non allergic groups of patients as compared to the control group, indicating that this decrease is a common feature for all patient groups studies. Serum IgA was significantly increased in amount in smokers. Serum IgA and IgG levels increased significantly with age. Females showed significantly higher serum IgM levels as compared to males. SummaryA study was made to establish the value of the leucocyte aggregation test (LAT) in drug allergy using penicillin antigen. The antigen‐induced human peripheral blood leucocyte aggregation was measured quantitatively. The results obtained have been compared with the leucocyte migration inhibition test (LMIT) in patients with or without delayed penicillin allergy. Among forty‐four penicillin‐allergic subjects and thirty‐six control subjects, LAT was found positive in respectively 70.5 and 30.5% (P<0.001) whereas LMIT was found positive in respectively 56.8 and 50% of the patients. These results were confirmed by multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), using a computer. Furthermore, this method, enables a more comprehensive and reliable interpretation of the tests, by the help of various quantitative and qualitative criteria.It is concluded that LAT shows more discrimination than the LMIT in distinguishing a penicillin‐allergic population from a non‐allergic one. SummarySolid phase enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and passive haemagglutination techniques were used to study the occurrence of IgG‐type antibodies against feline and bovine epithelial extracts among RAST‐positive patients, senior veterinary students, cat fanciers (representing exposed subjects) and healthy controls. SummaryHouse dust mite (Dermatophagoides farinae) has been shown to activate the complement systemin vitroby both the classical and alternative pathways in normal serum and in two groups of (skin test positive and skin test negative) patients with bronchial asthma. The activation was dose dependent in the lower range of allergen concentrations. Skin test positive asthmatic subjects showed the maximum activation. Skin test negative patients had activation between skin test positive patients and normal subjects. However, at the higher allergen concentration normal serum and bronchial asthma patients showed similar results.

SummaryA new technique by indirect immunofluorescence on sections of pigeon oviduct, is described as an aid to diagnosis of pigeon breeder's disease. It is easy to do, inexpensive, and permits distinction between affected patients and exposed but unaffected persons. The main allergen, pigeon IgA, participates in the fluorescent responses of the mucous membrane and associated secretions. It has been possible to relate changes in antibody titre with improvement following treatment.
