摘要:
Abstractclass of Laminar Proportional Amplifiers (LPA's) Is presented. The LPA Is a pressure controlled proportional fluid amplifier which operates with its power jet In the laminar flow regime. The mathematical model for the Input characteristics of the LPA Is based on a lumped parameter analysis of the input flow fleld when the supply jet is In the centered (i.e. null) position. The resulting flow equations are then linearized for the Input characteristics when the jet is deflected due to a lateral pressure gradient. In addition to the null and deflected-jet Input characteristics, an experesslon Is also developed for the degree of cross-coupling existing between the control ports. The analytical results are compared to experimental data and good agreement is found to exist.

摘要:
AbstractIDERS - Interactive Design of Energy Recovery Systems, is based on interactive computation and was created to design power plant hardware for stearn production. The method is based on heat transfer and thermody namic theory [31.[4]. The models and algorithms of IDERS [16]describe the heat transfer, flow, and mechanical properties of this type of waste heat exchanger.The heat transfer models used consider finned tubes in cross-flow, with hot gas heating a fluid flowing within the tubes. Tube and fin material constrail1ts are considered. Standard thermodynamic data and commonly available heat transfer and material models are used. In view of the importance of gas-side pressure drop in such heat exchangers. a basic concept of IDERS is the ability to optimize the usc of available pressure drop.The software consists of five interconnected and cooperating programs: MODE - to design the general thermodynamic process; HOT which determines p,uameters. materials and dimensions of superheater equipment; MED and COLD - which detennine the same things for the boiler and economizer respectively; and PRESS which is used to optimize overall heat exchanger design based upon av,lilable pressure drop. The software is writtell in FORTRAN IV [7] and has been implemented on a PDP 11/55 with graphics facilitie. The programs work in sequence. The user can interact in every stage. correcting the design parameters and optimizing, and return to earlier programs as necessary. Input from the terminal at each stage is illustrated on the TEKTRONIX screen. The user can obtain printer hard copy of the results and a multicolor plotter copy of the graphical output. An example of the design of a specific 'team producing system is included. The Waste Heat Exchanger considered. receives hot gases from a source such as a stationary gas turbine. and uses this energy. sometimes with supplementary heat addition, to generate steam. The system works rapidly and performs the hardware design of this kind uf steall1 plal1t effectivel.

AbstractDigital computer systems play a'vital part in society's technological advancement in all fields of endeavour. When digital computer systems fail, they can have a significant impact on industrial, commercial and residential users. With the significant increasing dependence on the use of digital computer and microprocessor systems in society today the need for accurate reliability performance data and models of these systems is essential to mitigate the cost and impact of computer interruptions to society. This paper will present the statistical results (i.e., 10 year study period) of the reliability pe;formance characteristics of the University of Alberta s AMDAHL 470/V8 computer system. A Markov model based on the major historical failure modes of the computer systems performance will be presented. The quantitative results of the model will be discussed considering the benefits and limitations of the model.

The program has been obtained by employing a non conventional analysis procedure developed to study systems including static converters.Particular attention has been devoted to the choice of the data structure in such a way as to get a general purpose program in which only a subroutine must be adapted to the problem to be examined.

AbstractThe ideal channel-fil or in a digital communication system is a linear phase filter with a specia1 kind of simmetry around the cut-off frequncy. In most practical designs it is impossible to satisfy such phase linearity requirement, there fore the system perform deteriorates. Since the digital simulation technique is becoming powerful tool in the analysis and design of communica ion systems, techniques for the efficient simulation of group delay distortions are considered here. In perticular this paper deals with a method of defining a proper digital filter (IIR), which simulates linear and quadratic distortions of the group delay curves, by using time-dom in algorithms.

摘要:
AbstractThe monioring of technical processes has become an increased interest to meet the reguiremnts 0f improved process control schemes.This paper presents a method for fault identification basing on a continuous-time parameter simaion procedure being implemented on a micro- process-computer.
Using the Discrete Squar root Filter (DSF) it Is possible to stimate the coefficientsøiof the diffential equations describing the dynamic behaviour of the monitored system and to calculate the physica1 characteristics Piof the system.A subsquent statistical hypothesis test is used to decide between (n+1)-hypothesis {Hii, i=o, ... , n}: H describes the normal operating sysem, and H0involves fault of type i.
Simulation studies on a d.c.-drive complete the paper and demontrate the applicability of the method.

摘要:
AbstractThe utiliz tion of saline water for irrigation requires its dilution with sweet water. This is carried out in so-callEd“distrilution”networks, which differ from conventional water distribution systems in that they contain mixing junctions. Mixing can take place in an open tank at atmospheric pressur , or in a pressurized line. Both methods are discussed, and various possible designs for the mixing junction and its control system d scribed. A compu er program, intended as d sign aid, for simulating steady-st te flows in the juncion is discussed. Finally, an existing mixing junction is described, and its control simulted on a hybrid computer.
