AbstractIn a series of 86 lymphograms correlated to histological findings after retroperitoneal lymph node dissection or to laparotomy findings, reliability proved to be 78%. The reliability of lymphograms evaluated as positive was 88%, while that of negative lymphograms was 74%. Retro‐peritoneal lymph node metastases were detected with the aid of lymphography in 58% of the patients. AbstractA 9 1/2‐year‐oId boy was found to have a mass occupying the lower pole of his left kidney, six years after his right kidney had been removed because of a Wilms' tumour. Investigation of the mass included angiography which demonstrated a mass with pathological arteries. Open biopsy of the mass revealed histological changes of nonspecific nephritis. AbstractThirty bladder tumours of various stages and grades were examined for the presence of A.B.O. (H) cell surface antigen using specific red cell adherence (SCRA) technique. Ten patients with stage A disease and low grade tumour (grade I) retained the antigens, whereas all patients with high stage disease (B,C,D) and high grade tumours showed absence of antigen. When these data were correlated with recurrence pattern and metastasis or invasion rate, patients who did not show the antigen at the initial visit developed metastases and had poor prognoses. AbstractEight hundred thirty‐six patients with carcinoma of colon and rectum were treated surgically in the Ichilov Medical Center from 1968 to 1975. Forty‐five patients (5.38%) suffering from perforative carcinoma were followed up. It was found that the treatment of choice for perforative carcinoma of the descending colon is primary resection without primary anastomosis. In ascending colon perforation the treatment of choice is primary resection with primary anastomosis. Thus aggressive surgical procedures afford the patient the best chance for smoother postoperative course and recovery. AbstractA case of spontaneous complete regression of metastatic breast carcinoma (malignant pleural effusion and bone metastases) with previously reported from M. D. AbstractA case report is presented here in which Hodgkin's disease with persistent hypoglycemia and hyperinsulinemia was present requiring constant 10% glucose infusions to prevent symptoms. Subtotal pancreatectomy with excision of adjacent Hodgkin's disease has relieved hypoglycemia and hyperinsulinemia.

AbstractA unique cohort of women at increased risk of breast cancer because of prior X‐ray treatment of acute mastitis and their selected high‐risk siblings were offered periodic breast cancer screening including physical examination of the breasts, mammography, and thermography. Twelve breast cancers were detected when fewer than four would have been expected based on age‐specific breast cancer detection rates from the National Cancer Institute/American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Demonstration Detection Projects. Mammograpy was positive in all cases but physical examination was positive in only three cases. Thermography was an unreliable indicator of disease. Given the concern over radiation‐induced risk, use of low‐dose technique and of criteria for participation that select women at high risk of breast cancer will maximize the benefit/risk ratio for mammography

AbstractEight autopsy cases of thyroid carcinoma, in which adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma coexisted, and presented. In these adenosquamous cell carcinoma, pathological findings suggest direct transition from papillary adenocarcinoma to squamous cell carcinoma, rather than transformation to squamous cell carcinoma via squamous metaplasia. We believe that squamous cell carcinoma arises from adenocarcinoma of the thyroid in most cases.
